According to the California tax authorities, The Valley star Brittany Cartwright owes a six-figure sum in unpaid taxes. Her CPA, Christopher Fank, however, suggests otherwise. He is now fighting on Brittany’s behalf to resolve this alleged misunderstanding.
The Bravo star allegedly owes almost $500k in tax

The California Franchise Tax Board semiannually publishes a list detailing the top 500 largest tax delinquencies over $100,000. It discloses the taxpayer’s name, last known address, total balance owed, and the date of any filed tax lien in the state. According to TMZ, Brittany’s name is on this list. She reportedly owes the state of California $463,632.12.
But again, her CPA states otherwise. According to a letter that Christopher wrote, which TMZ secured, he has handled Brittany’s taxes for the past five years. During this period, he stressed, Brittany paid all of her taxes. However, in 2019, her taxes reported “phantom income and tax” under her name, and that, Christopher explained, was a big mistake.
So, her CPA is working with the California Franchise Tax Board to resolve this issue. Until that happens, the agency has purportedly agreed to place a hold on her account. During this hold, Christopher and Brittany must submit proof that she does not owe $463,632.12.
This is not Brittany’s first rodeo with tax problems. In Season 2, she admitted, “My biggest fear is [that Jax Taylor is] gonna try and just leave and stick me with that $14,000 a month mortgage, and all of everything is gonna be on my back.” But the actual truth was even worse.
As Brittany later learned, Jax had not paid their mortgage or their taxes for a while. “I ended up paying it,” Jax eventually shared. He sarcastically added, “That was a fun check to write — especially with my penalties.”
Hopefully, Brittany’s CPA can resolve this new issue, and she will not have to write any “fun” checks of her own.
The Valley airs Wednesdays at 8/7c on Bravo. It streams the next day on Peacock.
