Let’s be honest. There haven’t been many positive examples of friendship in Season 17 of The Real Housewives of Atlanta. Just last week, Angela was accusing Shamea of sleeping her way across two pro sports teams. Shortly after that, K. Michelle ran away from a confrontation with Drew rather than addressing their issues.
There’s been a consistent stream of chaos with these ladies, but in The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 17 Episode 11, “Shady Texts and Bigger Regrets,” we finally got a glimmer of hope as multiple cast members hit low points. Maybe there’s actually hope for this group after all? Say a prayer in the club over it.
What Happened on The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 17 Episode 11?

After Shamea and K. Michelle ran off from their sit-down with Drew, they ended up at a nightclub with Mama Morton, and what happened there could change the trajectory of their entire friendship. Meanwhile, Kelli’s rollercoaster life got a serious intervention from multiple women in the group. Suddenly, it’s starting to make more sense why Kelli and Shamea are so close.
Plus, Pinky hosted a skate night, and the ladies put their differences aside to rally around Angela on what turned out to be an incredibly difficult day for her. Keep on reading for the full breakdown of Episode 11.
K. Michelle had a wild night out with the Mortons

When we last saw Shamea and K. Michelle in Episode 10, they were screeching the Star-Spangled Banner out the side of a car at Drew. What we didn’t see was where they went afterwards, but in Episode 11, K met up with Pinky for lunch and filled us in.
K told Pinky how she and Shamea went to the club after their National Anthem debacle, and they were joined by none other than Shamea’s mom. According to K, Shamea and Mama Morton prayed over her in the middle of the club at 2 AM, but Shamea also made an eye-opening comment about their friendship.
Allegedly, Shamea told her, “None of my friends want me to be your friend,” and K was so hurt by that comment that she ended the night crying in the car on the way home from the club.
In her confessional, K said that she didn’t appreciate Shamea’s comment because she didn’t want to hear about “no God damn Kandi Koated nights.” So why is Kandi getting name-dropped for the second time this season? We’ve got a theory.
After her time on Love & Hip Hop, K left Atlanta with a lot of reality TV enemies, most of whom happen to be pals with Kandi. Shamea is also close to Kandi. Read between the lines, and it sounds like Kandi and the gang may have been actively warning Shamea about getting close to K. Michelle.
Either way, it hurt, and K has got yet another person in this cast she can’t quite trust. Add Shamea to the list.
Kelli and Shamea’s friendship is getting stronger

Shamea’s friendship with K. Michelle took a hit, but her relationship with Kelli reached new heights. It turns out they’ve got more going on than just a mutual disdain for Porsha.
Throughout Season 17, Kelli has been going through it on every front: her ex-husband’s court battles, her financial crisis, and an escalating feud with her neighbor. All of it played out in the headlines while the show was filming.
With her neighbor situation escalating and her finances completely upside down, Kelli needed a new place to stay, and she needed it ASAP. Enter Shamea, who happens to own a vacant, move-in-ready townhouse and offered it up without hesitation.
The camera followed Kelli as she packed up and moved in, and it became crystal clear that their friendship might be realer than any of us thought. This goes beyond just the show.
To recap the Shamea effect: She introduced Kelli to her new love interest, “Jarvis,” who then bought her a $70,000 set of veneers. Now, Shamea moved her into a townhouse, saving her money and keeping her away from her nightmare neighbor.
Suddenly, a friendship with Shamea is looking really nice. We could all use a friend like that, even though Porsha would probably disagree.
Phaedra Parks, Esq. clocked in for Kelli

Shamea wasn’t the only one stepping up for Kelli this week. Phaedra opened the doors to her law office, put on a fresh bob, and decided to take on Kelli’s case against her ex-husband.
Kelli enlisted Phaedra’s help in fighting her ex’s attempt to bar their kids from appearing on the show. This is right up Phaedra’s alley—not only because of her decades of legal experience, but because she knows a thing or two about an ornery baby daddy. She told Kelli that she was ready to advocate for her and even offered to do the work pro bono.
Say what you want about Phaedra’s questionable past on this show, but her willingness to actually show up for Kelli during a genuinely difficult time, along with her continued efforts to bridge this chaotic divide in the group, is worth recognizing. The fact that Kelli’s ex ended up in jail for not paying child support shortly after Phaedra took on the case is also worthy of a salute. Thank you for your service, Ms. Parks.
The women rallied around Angela at Pinky’s skate party
The ladies haven’t been together as a full group since Phaedra’s healing waters party, and we all remember how that went. With that in mind, Pinky decided to give another group gathering a shot with a 90s-themed roller skating event.
This party landed during an especially painful time for Angela. It was the anniversary of her mother’s death, and throughout the episode, she was struggling to navigate all of the emotional weight that comes along with that milestone. Fortunately, the ladies stepped up for her in a big way.
At Pinky’s party, Porsha presented Angela with a beautiful framed photo of her mom. Pinky and Drew gave her flowers, and we found out that even Shamea sent a bouquet her way. Yes, the same girl whom she just accused of sleeping around with two pro sports teams sent her flowers. Classy!
Of course, we love it when the ladies throw shade and read each other, but this felt like more proof that big things can happen when they put the pettiness aside. Real friendships are blossoming in this circle when they aren’t dragging each other.
Porsha clashed with Dennis over her dating life

The other major development this week was that Porsha publicly admitted for the first time that she’s dating a woman. They weren’t exclusive just yet. Porsha is still very much in her Bravo Bachelorette era, but it was still a significant moment in her journey that everyone wanted to celebrate. Everyone except Dennis the Hot Dog King.
At the end of this episode, Dennis showed up at Porsha’s house and immediately started confronting her about the optics of discussing her dating life. He’s mentioned his concerns about her dating patterns before this season, but this time he came with a much more pointed attitude.
“You can’t confuse my daughter like that,” Dennis told her.
From a co-parenting perspective, you can kind of understand his sentiment. But then Dennis completely lost the plot when he pulled out their old engagement ring and tried to hand it back to Porsha. He claimed he’d been holding onto it in case they rekindled things, but now that she’s dating women, he felt like it was time to return it for good.
Wrong move. Seeing that ring made Porsha relive all of the heartache that Dennis brought into her life, and she completely lost her cool on him.
“You are the trauma, not the drama. The f*cking trauma,” she hollered at him.
Episode 11 ended with Dennis leaving her house, ring in hand. At this point, he’d be better off taking that thing to a pawn shop because Porsha definitely doesn’t want it.
The Real Housewives of Atlanta airs every Sunday at 8/7c on Bravo and streams the next day on Peacock.
