Andy Cohen Has a Message for Minneapolis Amid ICE Protests

The news coming out of Minneapolis, Minnesota is making international news. A 37-year-old ICU nurse, Alex Pretti, was shot and killed Saturday by U.S. Border Patrol officials. The tragic news follows on the heels of the death of Renee Good, who was also protesting ICE activities in her community, at the time of her passing.

Questions about these horrific events, and the direction the country is taking in general, abound. It’s such a critical reality at this point, that even those in the entertainment industry, are using their platform to clarify information. As well as to open the topic to discussion. Bravo executive producer, Andy Cohen, recently spoke out and addressed the residents of Minneapolis.

Andy Cohen took time out of WWHL to talk about the protests in Minneapolis

Andy took a pause before bidding Watch What Happens Live viewers farewell to address the issue.

“Before we go, I want to address the horrifice events unfolding in Minneapolis. On Saturday, three weeks after the killing of unarmed Renee Goode, 37 year old ICU nurse, Alex Pretti, was holding his iphone, exercising his constitutional right to protest, when he was murdered in broad daylight by ICE officials,” Andy said.

He continued, “He was a licensed gun owner, with a gun that was not drawn. While ICE agents fired off at least ten shots as he layed there on the ground.”

Indeed, that is exactly what bystander footage of the event indicated. Unfortunately, there are different interpretations as to what happened. Andy addressed that issue itself.

“Now, I’ve seen a lot of gaslighting on the housewives. And that is all fun and games. But we need to believe what we’re seeing with our own eyes. Our government is allowing anonymous masked agents to execute its own citizenship, and then lie about it,” he stated.

Andy then pulled the famous Real Housewives phrase of “showing receipts” to contest the claim that those attending ICE protests are “paid” to be there.

“Show us the receipts. Even one receipt,” Andy challenged. “This issue is not left versus right. This isn’t even about immigration reform, which the nation wants. We all have to decide if we want to live in a society in which our government kills citizens and then tells us not to believe what we seeing with our own eyes.”

“I know that is not the America I believe in or any of us want. Everyone please stay safe out there. Minneapolis, we love you,” Andy concluded.
