Welcome to the recap for Summer House Season 10, Episode 8. Last week, Kyle and Amanda continued to have issues over Kyle’s DJ career. When Kyle told Amanda it was full steam ahead, she was worried she’d never see him. Meanwhile, the tension between Bailey and Ben all went away after a game of Spin the Bottle. Who knew making out would solve their differences? And West apologized to Ciara for his behavior last season. Still, Ciara was hesitant to move forward in their friendship. Here’s exactly what went down in Summer House Season 10, Episode 8: “Sleeping On It.”
What happened in Summer House Season 10, Episode 8?
Things got worse between Kyle and Amanda when Kyle swore at her in front of the group for not paying attention to him. This left a sour taste in their mouths, with Ciara thinking they should separate and West vowing to have a conversation with Kyle after his birthday. Then Lindsay dropped a bomb on KJ that she heard from Bailey that Dara had spent an hour in Ben’s room the last time she visited. However, Dara denied all charges. And now she had plans to confront Bailey about her accusations the following weekend.
Kyle steps out of line with Amanda
After a long night of partying, the group came back to continue on at the house. Kyle got to spinning, and soon everyone moved outside by the pool … except for Kyle. And this made him feel “isolated” by Amanda.
When Kyle finally went outside to join them, he suddenly flipped on Amanda. He accused her of not being supportive and then said, “f*ck you.” Amanda brushed it off, but West, Ben, and Ciara were not okay with it.
In her confessional, Amanda didn’t see the point in talking about it with Kyle. She said, “It’s only going to make things worse. He’s not going to take accountability; he’s not gonna like apologize for what he did.”
Ben approached Kyle, and all Kyle did was complain Amanda didn’t talk to him all night. At the same time, West went in and checked on Amanda. He was shocked at the “unprovoked” outburst. Through tears she told him, “That’s tame. That was like a calm version of Kyle.”
Kyle finally came in and apologized. But when Amanda denied ignoring him, he went off on her again. He said, “You’re a f*cking dumbass b*tch.” As Amanda walked off, Kyle said, “You ignore me. You prefer our friends over me!”
Ben was in shock. He observed that Amanda liked to push Kyle’s buttons. However, he noted that nothing warranted a blowup like that from Kyle.
West then checked in on Kyle, who defended his actions by claiming he was just saying “f*ck you” back to Amanda. When West said Amanda didn’t say that to him, Kyle responded, “It’s always a f*ck you, Kyle.” He concluded, “She hates me.”
Lindsay drops a bomb on KJ about Dara
The next morning Kyle realized what he did was wrong. But he reasoned he could only take so many “jabs” from Amanda. He thought her behavior towards him was all in his head until he watched the show back. Cut to clips of Amanda dissing Kyle to the group. He said, “It’s one thing if you’re in a funk. But if you’re having a blast with everybody but me, it’s just sad.”
Meanwhile, Ciara and Mia caught up on the night before. Mia was happy the group was open to their conversation about race and racial bias. She said, “I appreciate everyone in the house holding space for the conversation and not interjecting and not saying like, ‘Oh, I know what that feels like,’ because you don’t.”
Then Ciara filled Mia in that she was upset the way Kyle talked to Amanda. When Mia wondered why they were still together, Ciara said, “B*tch, I don’t know!”
Later on, Lindsay asked KJ how he felt about Ben as Dara was coming up to visit. When KJ said it was just harmless flirting between them, Lindsay then dropped the bomb. She asked, “What did they talk about in his room for an hour?”
KJ’s head snapped up. Lindsay said, “According to Bailey, Dara went into Ben’s room, and they were in there for like an hour.” Cut to Bailey telling Lindsay that Dara went into Ben’s room in her costume and then came out in a different outfit. Bailey still getting messy with Ben!
This now gave KJ even more anxiety about Dara’s visit. Lindsay observed, “Now you’re probably going to be in your head about it.” KJ sighed and said, “Probably.”
Ciara thinks Amanda and Kyle should separate
It was time to set up for Kyle’s birthday party, and this year’s theme was turning everyone into old people. Pill pool floats, walkers, and scooters all arrived at the house. As Amanda lugged them around, she chirped, “It’s fine. I’m fine. Everything’s fine!” Even though everyone knew it clearly wasn’t.
Ciara, West, Jesse, and Ben chatted about the situation and did not hold back. Ben tried to reason that the financial stress Kyle was going through was pushing him to the edge. He dished that Kyle still owed two million on his loan. Ben said, “If Loverboy tanks, then he’s bankrupt. And he’s lost everything.”
Still, Ciara and West didn’t think that was an excuse for his behavior. Then Ciara left everyone shook. She said, “But I honestly, I think that they should separate. This just feels different this time. It feels like people are hitting their breaking point.”
She added, “But I just think that they are so in each other’s faces all the time that it’s clear that they resent each other. So why wouldn’t you take a beat, separate for a minute, get your bearings, and see if that actually does help.” And on that note, it was time to celebrate Kyle’s birthday.
Dara finally arrived, and KJ’s stomach was still in knots from the info Lindsay shared. So, he focused on putting away the groceries instead of on her.
Then Kyle went to Carl, his favorite sounding board, to complain about what happened. In his confessional, Kyle said, “No one understands what I’m going through … It makes me feel like I should just give up. But I’ve got so much invested in my marriage and my business that just doesn’t seem like an option.”
Dara sets the record straight
KJ continued to avoid Dara by chatting with Ciara and Mia. He shared he had a panic attack from the pressure of it all. He said, “I’m just already like in my head, trying to stop something before it even has started because I’m like protecting myself. Because I do like her.”
Ciara advised he shouldn’t deprive himself of having a connection because he was scared of being hurt. Interestingly, the editors kept cutting over to West as she was having this conversation. Were they hinting at Ciara giving West a second shot?
KJ decided to take Ciara’s advice and opened up to Dara about what he had heard. Dara said, “That’s not true. I literally was in Ben’s room because I put my stuff in there. I changed and I came right back out.”
KJ explained Bailey said Dara was chatting with Ben for an hour. Dara responded, “That just actually like factually never happened.” She reassured KJ he was the guy for her. Dara said, “Genuinely, the person I had interest in was you.” Things were now good between them, but not between Dara and Bailey.
After that drama, everyone came down in their costumes. West paid homage to Mrs. Doubtfire, and Ciara killed it with big boobies down to her knees.
While the party was in full swing, West still wasn’t over what had happened to Amanda. When Jesse asked if he was going to talk to Kyle, West said, “For sure. I can’t just not address this, you know?”
