Welcome back to your In The City recap!
In last week’s premiere episode, viewers were introduced to the cast of the Summer House spin-off, which also features some familiar faces from the OG series. Speaking of which, Amanda and Kyle filled Lindsay in on how their relationship had continued to break down since leaving the Hamptons. Meanwhile, she updated them on her fallout with ex-bestie, Danielle. So, what happened next?
Here’s exactly what went down in In The City Episode 2: “Mothers and Milkmen.”
What happened in In The City Episode 2?

In this week’s episode – titled: “Mothers and Milkmen” – Amanda started the process of her and Kyle’s trial separation. She packed up her things and looked for her own apartment. Elsewhere in New York, Lindsay found herself at the center of the drama between two of her castmates, newcomer Kenny and her former best friend, Danielle. Lindsay also met a potential love match in the form of a milkman. Let’s get into it…
Amanda packed up

After suggesting a trial separation during Summer House Season 10, and then staying in a hotel upon their return from the Hamptons, Amanda packed up some of her belongings from the apartment she shared with Kyle.
“I feel lighter, I feel good about this decision,” she said as she organized her shoes. “I feel this could potentially be what we need to save this relationship.” Despite how final things felt, Amanda tried to reassure Kyle that the separation wouldn’t be forever. “It’s not gonna be a crazy amount of sh*t,” she said of how much she was packing. “It’s like a month-long vacation.” Famous. Last. Words.
“We knew something drastic needed to happen, I don’t think we knew what,” Kyle said of the trial separation. “Therapy wasn’t necessarily giving us everything we needed,” he went on.
“We’re not separated, but we’re making separation,” Kyle later said in a confessional. “This is new territory … it’s still hard to believe this is happening.”
Whitney settled in and spilled tea

After shocking Kenny with her revelation that she’s moving with 30 boxes of stuff, Whitney opened up about how she is settling into the city – figuratively and literally. “It’s hard making friends as an adult,” she admitted. Then, Whitney recalled a recent pedicure she had with Danielle. In a flashback scene of that exact pedicure, Danielle gushed over Kenny, whom she knows through Gavin. She also praised his and Whitney’s romance.
“We’re just getting to know each other,” Whitney then told her boyfriend of the meeting with Danielle. Next, she revealed she had learned some things about her new friend’s relationship. “I thought she and Eoin had been together a really long time,” she said, adding that they had actually only been dating for a few months, and he had been “in the process of getting a divorce” at the time.
Whitney and Kenny’s chat concluded with the suggestion that there had been “overlap” between Danielle’s romance with Eoin and his split from his ex. That accusation is no doubt going to make sparks fly later this season.
Lindsay debriefed on Danielle

At the same time as Whitney and Kenny’s conversation about Danielle and her boyfriend, Lindsay and Gavin were having a similar one across town. Lindsay admitted it would be “weird” for her to get to know Eoin currently. That’s because she still has a frosty relationship with Danielle, who was once one of her closest friends.
Then, Robert (see: Danielle’s ex) popped up from behind the bar that Lindsay and Gavin were sitting at. “Whose side are you on?” Gavin said, referring to Danielle and Robert’s split, which played out on Summer House. “I don’t want to talk about Danielle,” Lindsay said, adding that she doesn’t want “the drama” in her life. To that, Robert agreed: “I don’t want to relive those memories.”
Explaining why her friendship with Danielle broke down, Lindsay told Gavin that her ex-BFF does something to piss her off “at least once a year.” But, despite Danielle offering her an “olive branch” in the form of a coffee date, Lindsay said she is “way more picky” about who she gives her energy to these days.
Kenny and Gavin got into it

The boys of In The City got together for a night out at Gavin’s bar in the West Village. Things got off to a somewhat rocky start between BFFs Gavin and Kenny. Earlier in the episode, Kenny had opened up to Whitney about how Gavin siding with Lindsay and calling him a “f*ck boy” in last week’s episode upset him.
“I was poking [the fire],” Gavin admitted. “I knew he could handle it.” To that, Kenny said Lindsay had come across as “judgy” during the confrontation in question. Gavin continued to defend Lindsay. He told his friend she was just trying to be a “girl’s girl,” but Kenny replied: “It was a dog pile.”
“Lindsay has her crew and her little minions,” Kenny said, implying that Gavin is one of them. “I’m not happy with the way that went down, you gotta have your boy’s back.”
Lindsay and Danielle continued to drift

At Whitney’s “Welcome to New York” party, Danielle tried to patch things up with Lindsay. She greeted her with a hello and a friendly kiss on the cheek. Unsurprisingly, Lindsay didn’t take it well and hurried back to her friends to complain. Meanwhile, Danielle said in a confessional that she is confused about why Lindsay is being so resistant to her efforts. Pointing to how Lindsay had “stiffed” her offer to go for a coffee date, Danielle described her former BFF as “cold as ice.”
Later at the party, Danielle spoke to Kyle about her failing friendship with Lindsay. “We don’t talk,” she told her former Summer House castmate, who apologized for being “insensitive” about their current situation. “I’m trying to broker a common ground [between you],” he went on. “We’re too close-knit for there to be awkwardness.” To that, Kyle encouraged Danielle to confront Lindsay and “squash it” there and then.
Then, Kyle seemingly dropped a bomb on Danielle. He let her know that Lindsay had called her “boy crazy,” and referred to a rumor about her giving Carl a “hand job in the back of an Uber.” Rightfully so, Danielle had quite the reaction to that, accusing Lindsay of only forming a “laundry list” of accusations against her now that she is in a “serious relationship.”
Speaking of relationships, however, a new one could be on the cards for Lindsay. At the party, she was introduced to Frank (a milk and dairy business owner) by Andrea, and the pair were seen on a date in the preview for next week’s episode.
Kenny confronted Lindsay

After opening up at boys’ night about his feelings towards Lindsay, Kenny confronted her at his girlfriend’s welcome party. “I felt like you were grilling and interrogating me,” he told her, to which she questioned if she was the only person doing it. “You were recruiting people,” he told her, while Lindsay responded that she was simply “asking questions because that’s how you get to know somebody.”
“This is who I am, I question everyone in my life, I just want to get to know everyone,” Lindsay said, defending herself. “I wish it felt genuine like that,” Kenny replied, going on to accuse Lindsay of causing “drama” within her friendship circle and “creating narratives.”
Things then turned extra sour when Kenny brought up that Lindsay had grilled him over the timeline of his and Whitney’s romance, but “had a kid with a guy you knew for two months.” This, he said, was proof Lindsay was “projecting [her] own insecurities” onto his relationship. “I’m not,” she replied, while defiantly staring him down in typical Lindsay style. “It sounds like you’re judging me,” she added, before branding him a “narcissist” in a confessional.
In The City continues on Tuesdays at 9/8c on Bravo. It streams on Peacock the following day.
