Gia Giudice Distances Herself From Mom Teresa Amid Next Gen NYC Season 2

There has never been any doubt that Gia Giudice is proud to be Teresa Giudice’s daughter. But the Next Gen NYC star is now carving out her own path. She’s ready for everyone to see her as her own person. That’s why she’s stepping away from the formidable shadow cast by her Real Housewives of New Jersey OG mom and stepping firmly into the limelight.

Gia has been extremely busy in the past several years. She’s been in the spotlight a lot, which is nothing new to her, considering she was practically raised on RHONJ. Fans watched her navigate her family’s legal issues, support her mom through tough times, and her dad, Joe Giudice’s, deportation.

The Bravo star is turning her attention to building her own brand

But Gia’s all grown up now, and in a new interview with Elite Daily, Gia opens up about being ready for fans to recognize her beyond being the eldest daughter of a Housewives icon.

“Over the past year, there have been a lot of milestones in my life that have really molded me into ‘This is Gia Giudice as an individual and as a brand,’ rather than ‘She’s a mini Teresa.’ I obviously do not take that as an insult at all; she’s iconic,” Gia explained, “but I wish people could also see who I am separately.”

So she’s focusing on carving out a name for herself while still having a deep appreciation for where she comes from. She’s done quite a bit on her own since the successful first season of Next Gen NYC.

She launched her Casual Chaos podcast and won the whole enchilada on Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test Season 4, along with Shawn Johnson. Gia joined with Teresa, but made it to the end despite her mom leaving earlier.

“Everyone thought I was going to be the first one out,” Gia revealed. The experience really inspired her to do things she previously thought were scary. She moved out of her family home and into her own place in Jersey City. And she’s focusing on her new goals ahead of the second season of her hit show.

“When I watched Next Gen, I saw it as a mirror. I looked at the things that I loved about myself and things I didn’t,” she says. Now, she’s going to be more chill. “Worry about myself, let my friends handle their own battles, and speak when needed.”

Indeed, Teresa’s baby girl is all grown up!

Next Gen NYC Season 2 premieres June 24 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo.
