Kandi Burruss Says Real Housewives Needs To Take ‘Some Type of Responsibility for Ourselves’

Kandi Burruss might not have started on the first season of Real Housewives of Atlanta, but there’s no denying she’s an OG. While Kandi was a success in the music world before Bravo, the network has been very good to her as well. She’s received multiple spinoffs and often uses her television platform to advertise her numerous businesses.

So Kandi definitely has some thoughts regarding the big Bravo takedown that’s been going on, courtesy of Bethenny Frankel. A recent Vanity Fair article exposed a lawsuit by Real Housewives of New York alum, Leah McSweeney. Leah is very unhappy about her treatment by Bravo and is in her litigious era. As far as Kandi is concerned, she can’t relate to Leah’s situation because she takes responsibility for herself. Us Weekly has the details.

Blaze’s mom showed up at BravoCon. Naturally, there was a lot of chatter about the “reality reckoning,” which certainly didn’t seem to impact the event. When Kandi was asked her opinion on the Vanity Fair article, she said she didn’t even read the whole thing.

“I saw a piece of it, I never did get to finish reading it. I just kind of saw the first couple of paragraphs and was like, ‘Y’all, I’ve been on this show for 14 seasons, and they haven’t gotten me to drink yet. I’ve never been tipsy in my life. Nobody on here is going to change that,’” Kandi said. For context, Leah alleged she was encouraged to drink by RHONY production during filming even though they knew she had substance abuse issues.

Kandi shared that Real Housewives need to have “some type of responsibility for ourselves,” which is completely valid. Also, if you have a bad experience on one show, maybe don’t sign up for the other show.

She added, “That’s just my opinion. I mean, I’m not hating on nobody.” Regarding Leah’s claims, Bravo advised “Production spent endless amounts of time accommodating her.”
