Tamra Judge publicly quit The Real Housewives of Orange County in a recent episode. The long-time reality TV star claimed that she had to leave during a cast trip to New Orleans. It wasn’t just the stress of sparring with Gretchen Rossi. Additionally, the former CUT Fitness owner was raw from her friend Teddi Mellencamp’s recent cancer diagnosis.
The emotional fallout of her best friend’s health issues manifested in other ways for Tamra. And she shared just how bad things got for her during a recent interview. The Vena Wellness owner told Jeff Lewis that she felt completely “overwhelmed” while filming in New Orleans.
Tamra Judge was balancing the stresses of RHOC and her friend Teddi Mellencamp’s cancer battle
And Tamra revealed on Wednesday’s episode of SiriusXM’s Jeff Lewis Live just how much of a challenge filming Season 19 was.
In addition to filming RHOC, Tamra had obligations to her Two Ts In A Pod podcast. She got a referral to the psychiatrist provided on-set after visibly struggling. She revealed, “It was a lot. I was like literally having a mental breakdown.”
Tamra added, “I wasn’t eating. I wasn’t sleeping by the end of the season. I ended up weighing 108 pounds. My skin was just literally falling off of me. And I was just so sad. I was sad.”
The “unknown” about Teddi’s diagnosis was “horrible” for Tamra. And to help her deal, she threw herself into work. She explained, “I am committed to every job I have. If it’s a podcast, if it’s me working at Burger King when I’m 16 years old, I am committed. I’m a hard worker.”
Tamra continued, “That just really put like, you know, a nail through my heart, and I was just so devastated, and on top of everything else, it was difficult.”
“I got to a point where I was overworked, I was depressed. I took a week off of the show. You know, you guys all saw how that happened,” the RHOC star said of briefly quitting.
“I talked to my therapist when I got home. And I also talked to the show psychiatrist. I had to do a 500-question survey. Then she evaluated me, and she’s like, ‘You’re severely depressed. You have self-worth problems'” Tamra recalled.
