BravoCon was a time of celebration, the spilling of tea, and revelations about upcoming shows. There was fashion galore, and lots of drama. It was also a time for redemption, as Nia Sanchez found herself in the spotlight and asked to explain her actions from earlier this week.
Nia had an out of character moment on social media recently. The Valley star posted a video to Instagram Story that showed her in a park that she called “infested” with “unhoused people.” It was quickly taken down. And during a BravoCon panel for The Valley this weekend, Nia took the opportunity to apologize for the harsh words.

“Thank you, first of all, for asking that question,” Nia addressed the audience. “I figured it might come up, and I am grateful for the opportunity to address it here. Anybody that reached out to me on social media, I responded to every single message, and even people that commented, I went and reached out to them as well.”
The Valley star continued, “There’s no excuse. I was completely mortified that those words even came out of my mouth. It’s not an excuse. It was a crazy day. And I vented in a way that I don’t normally speak, and then posted it publicly, which was like, ‘What was I even thinking?'”
It’s all the more curious given Nia’s personal history. In Season 2 of The Valley, she revealed that she was homeless for a portion of her childhood. The survival strategies that Nia and her mother resorted to included “pitching tents in people’s backyards” and going “to parks” looking for cans to recycle.
During BravoCon, which happened over the weekend in Las Vegas, Nia apologized and said she regretted using “those words.”
“That’s not how I feel, and I spoke out of a moment of overwhelm and frustration, and feeling a bit unsafe, but that’s not an excuse,” the Miss USA winner explained. “So, I do deeply regret it, and I should not have used those words. And I’m grateful that you gave me the opportunity to apologize again publicly, because it’s not okay. So, I take full accountability, and I should have never said those words.”
