A day after news broke of her divorce filing, Vicki Gunvalson of the Real Housewives of Orange County is speaking out about her decision to walk away from her marriage.
Speaking exclusively to UsWeekly magazine, Vicki, 48, sheds a little light on why she filed for divorce from Donn Gunvalson, her husband of 16 years.
“We tried,” said Vicki. “It’s just too hard on both of us.” She added: “It is amicable and we want to keep this as private as possible.”
Vicki also posted the following on her facebook page – “Donn has been an important part of my life and he will continue to be,” she wrote. “I would like to thank all of you for the outpouring of love and support that we have received.”
Also speaking out on Vicki’s divorce filing are her co-stars and her son. Tamra, Alexis and Michael had the following to say to RadarOnline -
Alexis Bellino – “This is totally unexpected, I really didn’t see it coming,” Alexis told Radar.“I’ve spent a great deal of time with them and they seemed very content with one another.” Alexis added – “Reality TV is hard on any marriage, and I will be praying for their family during this trying time.”
Tamra Barney – “I can’t speak for Vicki, but I spent some time with her in the past week or so and she’s a little stressed out and…clearly upset. But only she knows what’s best for her… It’s a difficult decision. I’m just beside myself because I love Donn and I love Vicki,” Tamra said. “My heart breaks for both of them and I truly wish them the best. I only wish they get through this without it being a giant circus. And only they know what’s going on.”
Michael Wolfsmith – “I think it’s for the best and they don’t really enjoy spending time with each other anymore and my mom’s always gone and traveling and Donn deserves someone who’s going to be at home and she deserves someone that’s going to support what she does,” said Michael. “My mom’s always gone… He’s home alone a lot, he’s just not happy and she’s not happy so whatever my mom wants to do I support.”
As we reported yesterday, the 6th season of the OC Housewives is currently filming so this divorce news will likely be on the show.

i’m not surprised at all by the announcement of Vicki’s divorce. It’s a long time coming. She makes way more money than he ever did in the relationship. Glad Vicki is finally stepping out on her own. She needs a man to take care of her, not the other way around.
What? She needs a man to take care of her? Why are we setting ourselves back 200 years? I don’t think its the money – I think its the way Vicki treats Donn! Simon (as annoying as he can be) was right when he said Vicki treats everyone like her employees including her husband. And I don’t think Simon was fabricating Donn calling him and crying over how Vicki treats him.
Vicki ‘s going to be the old tart seen floating from various Orange County clubs where most of the occupance are in their 20′s see she will believe that, now that she is single she will have respawned back to her blossoming youth and the men will come flocking

lol now Jeana and Donn can finally get together, sorry even she knew he was a catch LOL and I always thought they would make an excellent couple. Vicki treated that man like a dog anyways, Team Donn easily.

It was obvious that Jeana had the hots for Don all along. She just about layed on top of him every social event they were together. Now they can live happily ever after. Vicki used her work as an excuse to get away from Don. I knew they were headed for divorce when she wouldn’t allow him to join in on a family vacation. Good luck to them both!

Why are all these women so negative toward other women??!!! I think Vicky treated Donn just fine and maybe if more women held men accountable for their actions they wouldn’t act like such jerks!
I was sorry to hear that they will be splitting up, but our personal opinions are of no help to them. We should all mind our own business and wish for them to both recover from this in the way that they feel is best for them.

I am so sorry to hear that Vicki. But, I am right there with you. I am 49 and going thru the change. I am a very unhappy lady. And our spouses deserve the best, just like us. It isn’t easy but what the hell is in life. I wish the best to both of you. I hope someday I can meet you Vicki, I look up to you and hope to one day be a great business woman as yourself. I think Jenna should jump on this one, They both seem to like each other. i think they would make a nice couple. Don would be treated like he should. I think it is a very sad reflection that Vicki has decided that work and money are far more important than her marriage and that she wants to seek a divorce from Donn. Of all the husbands, he is the only one with a modicum of decency. He is level headed with a grounded personality and never overacts to anything, as well as being highly supportive of his wife in pursuing her interests. He appears to be a very decent man, as he is not controlling, and is not afraid to show his emotions. He married Vicki, and took on her two children, and treated them as if they were his own. I have only total respect for this man, as there are not many decent men out there. VICKI, I THINK YOU’RE COMPLETELY MAD, AS YOU’LL NEVER FIND ANOTHER MAN LIKE DONN. YOU WILL REALLY REGRET THIS ONEDAY!!! Donn, I think you’re fabulous, and I sincerely wish you every happiness for the future and hope you find a woman who will appreciate you and love you, the way you deserve. It’s a great pity I’m already married, you would be my idea of a dream man.
I think it’s so hypercritical the way Vicki conducts herself when out of town on business trips with her staff. She’s falling all over men she’s just met, screaming constantly like she’s 21, again, and drinking, yet she chews Don out for laughing at the joke Michael made on the boat, and for having drinks with the family. Don, Vicki isn’t the right woman for you. You deserve so much better, you are drama free, respectful, love and care for your step children, and show yourself to be loving and supportive spouse…a true gem, Vicki clearly isn’t the one,but don’t despair. The right woman is out there. I hope you find her because you would make anyone happy.
I don’t know why Vicki would leave him. He’s the only man who respects all of the housewives. He is so pleasant and understanding about everybody, and when he drinks too much he gets soooo funny. Maybe Vicki should ask him to cut down on his booze, but we have seen her out of control a few times, and she drinks too much in front of her kids – shows them bad example
