Kelly Dodd's marriage is a mess

Heather Dubrow Was “So Sad” Hearing About Kelly Dodd’s Marriage Struggles; Reveals She Renewed Her Own Wedding Vows

At first, it was pretty hard to like Kelly Dodd, but now that we are pretty far into this Real Housewives of Orange County season, it’s hard not to feel some sympathy for her. It’s clear that she is dealing with a lot when it comes to her struggling marriage with her husband Michael Dodd. It might even explain her behavior has been a lot for the ladies to handle. Even Heather Dubrow-who infamously walked out on that sushi dinner because she wanted nothing to do with Kelly- cannot help feeling sad for Kelly ever since she opened up about her marriage.

Previously, Kelly revealed that she and her husband Michael have already split up, dated other people, and were this close to getting a divorce. At first, it seemed like a sweet love story where the time apart made them realize that they were meant to be or something like that. However, the latest episode made it clear that things did not really go down like that- at all. Heather has revealed her mixed emotions when it comes to the Dodds‘ marriage.

I have not been a huge Kelly fan this season, but it was just so sad seeing her cry throughout this whole episode. It really seems like her relationship is taking a toll on her and that she does not know what is best for her and her family. Even though Kelly and Heather’s relationship got off to a rocky start (to put it lightly), Heather explained how hard it was to watch Kelly go through her struggles in her latest Bravo blog entry.

Heather revealed, “I shed so many tears watching this episode, but first…” Yep, that last episode definitely was a sad one. The Housewives were really going through some tough things.

Heather also admitted, “I was so sad watching Kelly and Michael. It must be very hard to try and put a marriage back together after a separation and other relationships.” And on top of all that, Kelly and Michael’s troubles are playing out in front of an often critical reality TV audience.

Heather also said, “When we were at the spa she shared a lot of details about their life together. Totally broke my heart. I wasn’t sure if I was rooting for them to stay together or to separate…life is too short to be miserable.” Not that I actually know Kelly, but I had the same thoughts when I was watching the episode. I understood all of Kelly’s fears involved with separating from Michael, but at the same time, it was so awful watching her be so sad in the marriage. My heart was really aching for her.

I also feel like Heather doesn’t get enough credit for being a caring person. Yes, she has this uptight image and the ladies even nicknamed her “Fancy Pants,” but Heather really does seem to have a big heart when it comes to these important things, which is something I noticed during the episode with the dune buggy accident as well as this one.

Sure, Heather and Kelly are far from besties, so it could be pretty easy for Heather to rub her seemingly perfect life  in Kelly’s face as some sort of punishment for Kelly’s behavior, but she didn’t do that. For instance, Heather gets upset that her husband Terry Dubrow works a lot, but no one is questioning the love in their marriage the way Kelly is with her own husband. The Dubrows are so much about each other that they even got a vow renewal.

No, you didn’t miss an episode or an Instagram post about this. The vow renewal actually went down fifteen years ago, but Heather is just talking about it now. So why did Heather get married twice? Usually people do that after they overcome marital struggles or to get some time in the spotlight, but Heather and Terry were actually thinking the opposite and had a super low key renewal just for themselves after having a super lavish wedding the first time around. In an interview with Bravo’s Personal Space, Terry explained why they decided to renew their vows: “So I’m not sure I experienced the actual one-on-one moment of our vows, so I wanted to do it again, just Heather and I without anyone else there.”

Would Heather and Terry renew their vows again for the Real Housewives of Orange County viewers? I mean, they are kind of arguing a little bit these season about Terry working so much. Could it be a good way to end that story line? Plus, Shannon and David Beador had an honestly moving vow renewal this season. Terry said, “So we’ve done it. Will we do it again? No. Unless she gets so mad at me for something stupid I do that I have to do that. And I still wouldn’t do it on television, I don’t think.” I don’t blame them, plus it really is a little too much of a reality TV standard at this point.
