Oh Phaedra Parks, you always tell it like it is. The lawyer/mortician hybrid from Real Housewives of Atlanta loves to enlighten us all with her Southern analogies and Donkey Booty. While she can be sweet as sugar, I certainly wouldn't want to cross her.
This season we're seeing more of Phaedra (literally! Was she serious with that thong bathing suit??), and we're also getting to see more of her spitfire personality. In other words, we learn that Phaedra doesn't like to share…when it comes to her husband Apollo Nida. Of course, who can blame her?
Last night on Real Housewives of Atlanta fabulous was redefined by one koo-koo-kachoo ex-pageant queen with a penchant for repurposing curtains into ball gowns, I s'pose! Kenya Moore was up to her old antics again and apparently "old" is the operative word because if you want that woman to lose what few marbles she has just point out that she is over 40. Dang, just tell people it's your 5th annual 39th birthday!
The other thing that happened was the epiphany of NeNe Leakes. It seemed our fair Ms. Leakes had turned over a new leaf this episode. She played many roles: peace maker, investigator of truth and intent, ring bearer and secret keeper, friend and foe, and most importantly WWF referee. Most interestingly was NeNe's opposition to drama as she stayed calm and collected throughout. I think I like this new NeNe, who has emerged the mother superior of RHOA.
Before somebody went Gone With The Wind Fabulous on us, she went after Phaedra Parks' husband Apollo. We're back at the pool where a desperate Kenya was wondering if she could borrow Apollo free of charge for a few baby-making endeavors. Kenya's wig, weave – whatever – is looking as nutty as she is; all ratty and gnarled! Is this the case of the girl wearing the hair or the hair wearing the girl?
Don’t Be Tardy for the Wedding…oh oh oh ohhhh! It’s time for the much anticipated Zolciak-Biermann nuptials. Can you hear the wedding bells? They’re auto-tuned!
There is a lot of construction and place settings happening at Kendra Davis‘ abode. A trailer filled with high-end porta-potties pulls into the driveway. Kim forgoes the regular conversation with KJ, just singing to him while he’s held by an assistant and praying he won’t be fussy for her ceremony. Kroy and the couple’s officiant (and former Kroy teammate) Koy decide to imbibe a few beers. Kroy thinks this wedding is a gift from God, therefore, he isn’t the least bit nervous.
Kim wants to sent him a voice message professing her love. Kroy’s mom and sister are getting their make-up did done. His mom is trying to convince everyone about how young her skin looks. Kim’s mom enters stage wasted and finds Sheree Whitfield getting the full make-up/hair treatment. Mama Zolciak is jealous. Sheree seems to have popped some Xanax before being filmed…perhaps she’s dealing with some RHOA withdrawals.
As you know, Phaedra, reality starlet, quotable wordsmith, lover of pickles, and attorney extraordinaire, did not take kindly to Vibe.com financially backing Angela Stanton’s tome of slander “Lies of a Real Housewife: Tell the Truth and Shame the Devil,” and she recently filed a multi-million dollar lawsuit against the site’s parent company. Now it appears that her mother, Pastor Regina Bell, is following suit…literally!
As always, the episode starts with Kim talking to precious K.J. (is he always in a skull cap?) about the big day. The last minute preparations are happening in the back yard. Brielle and Ariana bring Kim breakfast. Kim reveals that the always romantic Kroy has insisted that they don’t see each other on the day leading up to the wedding. The couple won’t be honeymooning until after football season.
Assistant SweetieNiki is now going to serve as matron of honor in place of Kim’s biffle Jen. With all the changes that must take place in order to have Niki ready for the big day, Kim enlists Brielle to call her to make sure she will still have time to fix the girls’ hair. There is one thing that isn’t causing Kim any stress, and that is Antonio Davis. Security is making sure that he isn’t allowed to set foot on his property.
Reality stars never cease to amaze me. Namely, one Evelyn Lozada, but that’s neither here nor there. Vibe recently interviewed Evelyn of Basketball Wives, alongside Tamar Braxton of Braxton Family Values, Kandi Burrus of RHOA, and Chrissy Lampkin, formerly of Love & Hip Hop fame. The interview addresses the violence and drama fueled fights often highlighted on these shows, and the women, one in particular, seems to like laughing all the way to the bank. I was, however, extremely impressed to see Chrissy take responsibility for her temper. It’s a long interview, so I’m just sharing my favorite highlights. You can read the whole discussion here, and try not to laugh when Tamar says Evelyn is beautiful “inside and out.” Enjoy excerpts from that interview below!
