After nearly a decade off the air, The Osbournes is coming back to TV. The wildly popular and Emmy award winning reality TV series originally aired March 2002 through March 2005 on MTV.
Sharon Osbourne announced the news on The Talk. “It’s not as much coming back as a proper series [but] as an update,” she said. “At most there’ll be only six to eight episodes. It’s a catch up on our lives and where we are now.”
Well, I guess I won't hold my breath for an Osbournes reunion show. Sharon Osbourne is now speaking out about the reality series her family starred on from 2002 to 2005, claiming that the hours required by the show didn't allow she and husband Ozzy to spend enough time with their children.
Describing The Osbournes as taking a huge toll on her family life back then, Sharon feels relieved that daughter Kelly and son Jack turned out as well as they did. Clearly the experience didn't turn her off from the genre in general as she went on to host the X Factor and is now one of the ladies at the helm of a day time talk show.
I think we can pretty much credit MTV with the birth of reality television thanks to the explosion of The Real World, but it didn't stop there. Think about all of the families we watch on a weekly basis, from the Robertsons to the Kardashians to everyone in between. Where did the madness begin? Some may say with a ride on the crazy train courtesy of The Osbournes. Don't act like you didn't watch!
We saw Jack and Kelly Osbourne grow up on camera (although eldest daughter Amy didn't participate) with the always hilarious chirping busybody of a "mum" Sharon and bumbling, mumbling former death metal star Ozzy. And, of course, don't forget their tiny pooches! Now Kelly is a fashion consultant for E! and Jack is family man–how precious is his wife? (pictured with him and his parents above)–currently competing on Dancing with the Stars…but do they ever think about going back to the days of reality television's first family?
Our favorite reality TV stars can't get enough of the spotlight during their regularly scheduled time slots, so they take to Twitter to share even more of their daily lives with us. And we love them for it! Here's a roundup of some of our favorite pictures from the Twitterverse this week! Enjoy!
"Auf Wiedersehen! One day you're in, and the next day, you're out. You may leave the runway." Er, I mean the stage. Supermodel Heidi Klum is expanding on her Project Runway hosting skills into the realm of hardcore talent judging. That's right! The Body is joining the judges' panel for America's Got Talent.
Heidi will be joining veteran judges Howie Mandel and Howard Stern, along with fellow newcomer (and former Spice Girl) Mel B. As you recall, Sharon Osbournequit at the end of last season when the network wouldn't allow son Jack to appear on a high impact, military-inspired celebrity reality competition show due to his recent MS diagnosis. Can you blame her?
New Mob Wives cast member Love Majewski appears relatively tame according to the antics of the original ladies. Of course, every time she opens her mouth, she reminds us that this wasn't always the case. It's a wonder any of Love's exes are still alive, given her penchant for guns, knives, and a little something-something in her cooking.
Of course, it hasn't been all bad for Love. She spent four years in Isreal so she wouldn't have to testify against her ex Ray Merolle in his car theft trial, and she was once Sharon Osbourne's personal make-up artist. That doesn't sound like a violent lady, now does it? Welp, just keep reading…
