I have a feeling that Dolores Catania is going to pull off the rare feat of being a genuinely nice person and a popular reality TV star. The new girl is arguable the nicest person in the Real Housewives of New Jersey cast, but there is still something very entertaining about her.
The appeal of watching Dolores on TV is that she really seems like a genuine person. First off, she was actually friends with the entire cast before she was a part of the show. Second, she just keeps it real – and NOT in an over-the-top reality show stereotype sort of way. I can’t help wondering why she wasn’t on the show sooner, but Dolores feels like she joined the cast at the ideal time in her life.

Dolores opened up about her personal life in her Bravo blog – which I expect to happen a lot since it is hard to imagine her talking bad about anyone in the cast, this works for her persona though. I just love Dolores. Even though the season only just started, I really view Dolores a a friend in my head.
Dolores wrote about the birthday party that Siggy Flicker and Teresa Giudice threw for her on a previous episode: “That afternoon was the perfect way for me to begin a new chapter in my life , a chapter where I can FINALLY begin to focus on ME. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been giving all of myself to everyone else around me. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve loved every minute of raising my children and caring for my friends and family. But my kids are growing up quickly, and while they’ll always need me (I hope!), they’ve become more and more independent.”

It seems like Dolores joined RHONJ at the perfect time since she is finally ready to focus on herself and be the star of her own life after doing so much for the people around her.
Nevertheless, I still wish that she was on the show earlier. It totally could have worked. Dolores wrote, “My decision to reinvent myself couldn’t have come at a better time. I’m so thrilled to be an ‘official’ Housewife! You may have seen me on the show before, as I’ve appeared on several episodes in the past. The timing for me to join was just right!”
Better late, than not at all. I don’t know about you, but I’m loving the addition of Dolores to the cast. She just seems so sincere that I can’t help liking her.
