Lisa Vanderpump Explains Why She Left The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills Premiere Party Before Co-Stars Arrived

We are just at the beginning of Season 9 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, but it is clear that Lisa Vanderpump is in a vulnerable state. Her personal life is in turmoil following the death of her brother, amongst other concerns. As we are used to Lisa being strong and in charge at all times, it is touching- and a little sad- to see her struggling.

And it seems that some of the struggle continues after filming ended. Lisa and her husband Ken Todd left the cast premiere party before her co-stars arrived last week, creating chatter about why they did so. And now Lisa is sharing why things have been so challenging for her lately-including her interactions with her co-stars.

In an interview with Us Weekly, Lisa revealed, “I just wasn’t in the right mental state to really cope with everything Real Housewives throws at you.” Which is understandable. And being obligated to show up when you know your co-stars who have been speaking negatively about you in the media must have been daunting for Lisa. I call showing up to an event early to fulfill your obligations and leaving before things could get ugly smart. And classy. Very Lisa.

Lisa goes on to explain, “It was a very difficult year for me, and I just kind of got to a place where I was desperately searching for happiness in my life at that time and it just got very heated there.” Lisa does not say exactly what gets heated, but from what we know, she is currently not speaking to the other Housewives.

Kyle Richards mentioned that she wanted to make up with Lisa at the premiere last week, but was not able to as she had already left. Just a thought Kyle-maybe a public event is not the best place to make up with someone!

Before the season started, there was a lot of talk about Lisa refusing to film with the other ladies. Lisa hinted at this and shared with US Weekly, “I filmed a lot on my own and they really did spotlight my charities.”

Lisa has been very professional throughout filming other seasons. She must have been in a bad emotional place to film. Lisa has always been very vocal about her charities like the Vanderpump Dog Foundation. Therefore, it makes sense that would be a motivator for her in difficult times.

And Lisa offered an explanation for the deterioration of her relationships with the other ladies. She stated, “This season was particularly difficult for me and perhaps I was not prepared. There was a lot going on in my personal life that I had to focus on.”

Maybe Lisa just didn’t have the time, the energy- or the patience- to participate in drama fueled by the likes of Dorit Kemsley. Everyone has a breaking point. Lisa also said, “I think this season will surprise people. Relationships are definitely tested and fans will be taken on a crazy ride.” From the season previews, I think that is a safe bet!

Lisa does not rule out a reconciliation with her co-stars, however. She said, “Viewers will have to form their own opinions after watching, but I always say ‘never say never.”’ At this point, that might be the best we can hope for.
