Scarlett Johansson Says Someone From Real Housewives Of New Jersey Inspired Her Fashion For A Movie Role

There are a lot of things we could say about the Real Housewives of New Jersey culture. The terminology, the wine/winery experiences, the firm gender roles, and the fashion choices. I just. Where to even begin?

Truly, from the onset of the show, I could never quite wrap my mind around the idea of a “fashion” in New Jersey. Yet Kim DePaola has pulled it off. Time after time she has delivered a runway show with enough drama that it out-does Real Housewives of New York and Project Runway’s fashion week entirely. The Posche Fashion Show is the gift that keeps on giving.

We can not forget the time the police were called after Joey Gorga accused Kim D of being a “coke whore” and she shot back telling him she “plays with the big boys.” Teresa Giudice also used Kim D’s fashion show to call out the retailer’s drug use. Apparently there’s not a culture of appreciation for fresh *snow* down by the shore.

Housewives fans aren’t the only moths to the flame of RHONJ. Apparently Scarlett Johansson has also studied up on the proper attire for flipping tables and guzzling red wine. According to Page Six, the actress revealed she turned to the show as inspiration for her 2013 role in “Don Jon.”

The Real Housewives of New Jersey was apparently the inspiration for Scarlett’s character Barbara Sugarman. Of course, Barbara loved a leopard minidress, low tops, and a healthy side of leather. “I based this character off of one of the Housewives of New Jersey,” Scarlett said. “I won’t tell you which one.” Yet I think we all know who she is referring to.

“I just was like, ‘I know this person. I know what watch they wear. I know how their hair is styled, the nails. I just was like, ‘Sign me up,” Scarlett added. As for the nails, she described the process of getting acrylics as “torturous.” She quipped, “I don’t know how people do it, but I have a lot of respect for those people.” All in a hard day’s work, babe. I’m sure she’s just over the moon to learn another Envy Boutique is on the way.
