Iâm going to start off this post by recognizing reality TV isnât for everyone. Itâs always been the black sheep of television â shrugged off as frivolous nonsense filled with people attempting to become rich, famous or both. The Real Housewives franchise has always been a bit different, as it took mostly established women and showcased the ins and outs of their fabulous lives. That doesnât mean the show is something you turn into to learn something or better yourself â itâs escapism at its finest.
And while Iâve learned a lot of random knowledge in my years of watching Bravo (Erika Jayne and Jen Shah really expanded my legal knowledge this past year, for example), itâs supposed to be straight-up entertainment. But like, you donât watch Ramona Singer poop her pants or NeNe Leakes get in someoneâs face to better yourself. Itâs just not how it works.
Pop superstar Adele has made headlines recently (as pointed out by Page Six) for sharing her not-so-positive opinions about the Real Housewives franchise. Adele appeared on a YouTube channel NikkieTutorials to get her makeup done, and Nikkie de Jager asked her if sheâs ever watched the Real Housewives. Yes, thatâs exactly how I start every conversation as well, but thatâs beside the point.
But Adeleâs response wasnât so positive. âI know a lot of people love it, but I canât,â Adele responded. âMy brain will die, I canât.â I always joke that I found a way to make a job out of the 80% of my brain filled with useless TV knowledge, but Adele kind of has a point. She doesnât strike me as a Real Housewives girl anyway â she probably watches artistic films and reads poetry to garner inspiration, which I can respect.

Adele went on to say that she doesnât know of any of the Real Housewives stars, so it feels daunting to start from the beginning. Nikkie, bless her heart, told Adele that the shows are an easy binge-watch, but it wasnât enough to convince her. âIâm not going to lie, it doesnât work for me,â Adele added. To each their own. She did own up to see an episode of Real Housewives of New Jersey, but it was too intense. âThey were all like literally killing each other, but it was too much,â she added.
So Iâd bet money that Adele tuned into the Christening episode, which arguably made me even more intrigued by RHONJ in its early days. She didnât even see Teresa Giudice flip a tale or shove Andy Cohen, but the glimpse was enough for her. Adele added that sheâd rather âwatch a wildlife programâ which is wholesome and honestly more on-brand.
