Kyle Richards made her first WWHL appearance since news of her separation broke, and she did not disappoint. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star dropped by Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen and former castmate Teddi Mellencamp to chat and answer some viewer questions.
And while she was there, she made sure to make one thing very clear with Andy and everyone watching — her separation from Mauricio Umansky is absolutely not for ratings.
Kyle Richards on WWHL: Who would do that?
Before they got to the questions, Andy started it off by asking Kyle if there was something she really didn’t like hearing about her current situation with Mo.
“Yes, the one I hear most often that bothers me is that we are doing this just for ratings,” she shared as she shook her head. Even Andy agreed with the housewife and said, ‘Yeah, that pisses me off too, actually.”
Kyle went on to ask who in the world would do that to themselves and their daughters just for ratings. “What human being would do that to their children to their family?” she said in exasperation.
She chalked up to people being ignorant but was clear that her current situation and struggles were not a ratings push. And while that may be true, viewers can’t be completely blamed for being incredulous, as many previous storylines have obviously been a ratings pull.
A rough year
Overall, it’s been a rough year for Kyle, and we’re seeing some of that now in the new season of RHOBH. Her scenes with Mauricio, particularly, have been almost painful to watch. In the recent episode, he asked her about her tattoos and realized he didn’t know how many she had.
When Kyle told him that she had five tattoos, Mo replied that he only remembered her having three. Her response clearly hinted at underlying issues: “Well, maybe you should be looking closer at my body.”
She even followed this up in a confessional by saying that before, he would notice a new freckle on her body. Now he doesn’t even know how many tattoos she had. I’d say the writing was definitely on the wall.
And to make it even worse, he followed this up by saying he wouldn’t allow her to get new tattoos.
“I think that’s enough, yeah?” Mauricio said. “Five tattoos is a lot.” Not surprisingly, she told him that if she wanted another one, she would get one. He doubled down with, “I will not allow that.”
Kyle was unfazed and told him it was her body. She said she would do what she wanted with or without his “permission.” It was a pretty awkward conversation, and considering where they are now, I’m guessing we’re in for a lot more like it as the new season progresses.
