Signs That James Kennedy and Ally Lewber Aren’t Built To Last

Season 10 of Vanderpump Rules introduced James Kennedy‘s girlfriend Ally Lewber. Viewers fell in love with Ally as quickly as James did. Based on what we’ve seen, their relationship is steadier than James’ ever was with Rachel Leviss.

It surely helps that James actually likes Ally as a person. Whereas with Rachel, it always seemed that the only thing he liked was her looks. However, does that mean James Kennedy and Ally Lewber are endgame? We’re not convinced, and here’s why.

James Kennedy Moves Too Fast

In her first conversation with Rachel, Ally called James “just like..a really fast person.” Considering how quickly he moved on from the broken engagement, we’d say that’s a fair assessment. Many questioned if he was really over his ex-fiancé. Especially Rachel herself, who rudely referred to Ally as a “replacement.”

Even if James was completely over Rachel, his relationship with Ally became very serious very fast. James called her the love of his life after months of dating. They seemed to be cohabitating already in Season 10, and are now living together in a million-dollar house. Moving so fast means that James and Ally could burn out quickly instead of being built to last.

James Still Has Work To Do On Himself

Ally encourages James to go to therapy. And she made it known that she disapproves of his past actions, particularly body shaming. That’s great, but it also reminds us that James needs to do a lot of work on himself.

He’s body shamed so many people at this point, including Rachel’s mom, and hasn’t stopped after a million apologies. He also started drinking again, to Lala Kent‘s chagrin. In addition to his hard partying and cruel comments, James also clearly has unresolved issues from his upbringing, and a very complicated relationship with his parents.

Lots of VPR fans love James for his witty one-liners. And many viewers have empathy for the DJ due to his personal struggles. But even the biggest Rachel haters have to admit that James treated her like dirt. There are also some dark accusations about him from his previous ex-girlfriend, Kristen Doute.

It’s particularly troubling that James resumed drinking after all the distress it caused Rachel. The horrific texts he sent her while drinking caused them to stop having sex for two years before their split. Rachel broke things off because she had nightmares about their wedding. Her breakdown on the girl’s trip to Lake Havasu suggests even more very troubling behavior on James’ part.

Ally Doesn’t Seem Super Into James

A common refrain throughout Season 10 was that James seemed more into Ally than she was into him. Some of that may be because James wears his heart on his sleeve, while Ally seems more reserved. But there are a lot of moments from Season 10 to support that theory, and suggest that Ally and James aren’t built to last. On the Mexico trip, for instance, James got upset that Ally didn’t remember their “spinny thing.” Yikes!

Ally May Have Used James To Get On The Show

James dated Kristen to get on the show, and Rachel likely dated him for the same reason. It’s not unfathomable that Ally was initially interested in him for the fame—or that it was at least a nice bonus.

As down-to-earth as Ally is, it would be silly to pretend she had no interest in becoming famous. She did openly admit to being a fan of the show. VPR wasn’t even her first attempt at reality tv. She and James have also teased music collaborations.

James & Lala Kent Are Probably Meant To Be

James and Lala never officially dated, but they did hook up around Seasons 4 and 5. Including after James first started dating Rachel. Ever since, they’ve maintained a very tempestuous and emotional friendship.

Their falling out in Season 7 was seemingly spurned by jealousy over the other’s new romantic partners. It was obvious to everyone—including Rachel—that James never stopped carrying a torch for Lala. Likewise, Lala’s disdain for Rachel was rooted, in some part, in the fact that she had a competitor for James’ affection.

Don’t just take our word for it. Lala even admitted that James is probably her soulmate. We wouldn’t be shocked if they end up together. After all, stranger things have happened with the relationships on this show!
