Why Lala Kent Reached Out to Rachel Leviss After Scandoval

Lala Kent is about to help her cast bring back Vanderpump Rules for Season 11 and there’s a lot on the table. First, we have the aftermath of Scandoval, and fans are gearing up to revisit the Affair Heard Around the World. It would have been interesting but the key to Scandoval didn’t show up to film.

In the trailer showing what’s to come, we briefly see Lala sharing a moment with Ariana Madix, seemingly preparing to drop a bomb. That bomb may or may not be that she reached out to Rachel Leviss after the Scandoval ordeal. Now Lala reveals why she tried to touch base with Rach. I think know why she did it, and I think you know, but let’s see what Lala has to say. Entertainment Tonight has the scoop.

Rachel’s reckoning

Tom Sandoval’s former side-piece made the wise decision not to return to the scene of the crime. She values her mental health and remaining dignity more than a check, and for that I commend Rachel.

After checking in to a mental health facility directly from the Season 10 reunion, Rachel went no-contact with the entire cast. But that didn’t stop some of them from trying to get in touch with her anyway. Namely Sandoval and now Lala.

Before corresponding with the person she verbally abused multiple times, Lala didn’t inform any of her “friends.” She said, “I told them later — and you guys will see how they react.”

According to Lala, she had her reasons for calling Rachel. “There were a couple of reasons why I reached out to her. Number 1, it resonated with me that she had been isolated, or she said she had been isolated, by Tom Sandoval. I know that feeling.” No, Jan, absolutely not. After YEARS of treating Rachel like trash and also screwing her boyfriend, it seems mind-boggling Lala would be contrite at this point.

She added, “I also felt that she needed to come back and apologize wholeheartedly when dust had settled, not when we’re three weeks into Scandoval at a reunion, you know? Like, really have productive conversations.” Ma’am please. Lala probably wanted to make sure Rachel was coming back so she would have something to do. Because who is Lala if she isn’t yelling at someone with her fingers in their face?

The shock of no return

Also, anyone familiar with the reality television format knows Pump Rules was hanging by a thread before Scandoval. It’s safe to say Rachel not returning was a shock to everyone involved because they were basically relying on her for content.

Obviously Rach didn’t return and opted to create her podcast instead. That led Lala to bash the podcast because what else can she do now? “I think if she opted out and then moved on to live a very normal life? Great, don’t come back. But to not come back and do a podcast instead, I just thought it was one of the lamest decisions to make, and I felt like she was extremely ill-advised,” said Lala, historically a great decision-maker …

We’ll have to see how Ariana takes the news of (another) one of her besties breaking ranks for the sake of the show. Allegedly.

Vanderpump Rules Season 11 will premiere January 30 at 8 PM/ET.
