Unfortunately, it looks like it’ll still be a while before Bravo foodies can slip on prematurely bought, overpriced Something About Her crewneck sweatshirts to head down to WeHo for an overpriced, overhyped artisan sandwich wrapped in butcher paper and twine.
The eatery dreamed up by Vanderpump Rules stars Katie Maloney and Ariana Madix still hasn’t opened. Apparently, it’s due to issues involving red tape with city permits and a problematic patio situation.
It initially seemed like Katie and Ariana’s plan was moving along pretty quickly. However, here we are two years later, and progress is stalled after several projected opening dates have come and gone. Katie just shared an update on why the shop still isn’t ready for customers. Well, at least there’s always Subway.
Katie Maloney: “I’m just trusting that the timing is what it is for a reason”
Despite Something About Her’s grand announcement in January 2022, the much-anticipated eatery on Robertson Blvd. in West Hollywood – conveniently located near Vanderpump Rules hotspots SUR and TomTom – is still in hibernation mode.
In an interview with The Messenger at the VPR Season 11 premiere, Katie spilled the tea (or lack thereof). “At this point, we’re permit-approved, but we’re just waiting for physical copies before we can get the final one. We’re like all the other people waiting on them.”
She also hinted at some behind-the-counter drama, admitting, “We’ve been making some changes as needed, but we’re real excited.” Apparently, Something About Her isn’t just a sandwich shop; it’ll also probably be a Season 11 storyline.
Acknowledging the skeptics, Katie insisted, “I appreciate everyone asking questions and wanting to know when we’re going to open, and I want to keep up that energy, obviously. But it can be frustrating at times. I’m just trusting that the timing is what it is for a reason.”
Ariana echoed Katie’s sentiment, adding, “We are chomping at the bit to get open. Just waiting for all the agencies to sign off.”
When asked if 2024 will be the grand opening year, Katie exclaimed, “I freaking hope so!”
Even though Something About Her has set Katie and Ariana back about $1 million so far, they’ve already raked in $500,000 from merch sales in the wake of Scandoval. Who needs sandwiches when you can satiate yourself with a $20 pair of socks?
