The wacky friendship between NeNe Leakes and Kim Zolciak was one of the things that made The Real Housewives of Atlanta so fun to watch when it premiered in 2008. Since then, the two ex-RHOA stars have turned enemies, then friends, and then enemies again countless times. It’s been impossible to keep track of where their relationship stands at any given moment.
Kim’s going through a very public, very messy divorce, then reconciliation, and then divorce again with Kroy Biermann. The whole train wreck’s steeped in financial ruin and visits from the police as they cohabitate in the same home with their inevitably traumatized kids, who’ve looked on as their parents scream at each other.
The ordeal’s so bleak that even NeNe’s approaching it with kindness and sympathy, which historically isn’t her usual style of operating. NeNe recently had some uncharacteristically gentle words for her old friend, “Wiiiiiig.”
NeNe hopes Kim and Kroy can “figure it out”
TMZ caught up with NeNe at LAX, where she talked about recently running into Kim at a restaurant. She revealed that Kim briefly mentioned her struggles with chaotically uncoupling from Kroy.
NeNe chose to keep the catch-up positive and expressed her well-wishes for Kim’s happiness, emphasizing the importance of avoiding family fractures, particularly when kids are involved.
While NeNe didn’t delve into the details, she hopes for some kind of resolution between Kim and Kroy. She noted the importance of their peace – whether that means calling it quits or deciding to reconcile.
Despite their past conflicts, NeNe complimented Kim on her tiny figure, signaling a glimmer of warmth in their relationship after years of drama. She sends Kim and Kroy her best wishes for peace.
But, Kim’s probably not focused on rekindling her friendship with NeNe at the moment. Right now, she’s consumed with constant cop visits to Milton’s discounted Mansion of Misery, the looming threat of foreclosure, and the sale of her and Kroy’s designer items (of which she’s maybe pocketing the profits).
NeNe’s soon making a return to reality TV as host of the East Baddies reunion, which airs on Zeus Network. Kim stars on the upcoming season of VH1’s The Surreal Life.
