There may be trouble in the newfound amicability between Crystal Kung Minkoff and Sutton Stracke, all due to the Spanish vacation. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 13 cast trip has been eventful, even if the fans aren’t loving it.
Crystal experienced quite the medical scare while traveling, with her veins nearly popping out of her body. Since Crystal doesn’t often get sick, she first tried to rationalize away her unwellness, but it got to a point that she couldn’t deny. She was scared.
Sutton, meanwhile, was emotional for her own reasons, having come to Spain to take care of her friend Merce’s ashes. In a show of solidarity, she prepared leis made of weight carnations for her friends to wear and send off into the ocean. Crystal, however, had reservations about this plan.
Why Crystal didn’t want to wear Sutton’s white lei
During the RHOBH After Show, the ladies reflected on the ceremony and Sutton’s preparations. Sutton explained the leis were made with white carnations because Sutton couldn’t find red – Spain’s national flower – in time for the ceremony. Crystal admitted, “I really appreciated the sentiment, [but] I felt immediately uncomfortable because they were white flowers.”
Erika Jayne then confessed that she encouraged Crystal to simply take off the lei because of how uncomfortable she looked. When the group questioned Erika’s encouragement, she explained, “In Chinese culture, white equals death.” Crystal just as well admitted that Erika hit the nail on the head. What with Crystal’s health scare, her discomfort made sense.
Crystal further expressed, “I just kind of thought I would go with it and somehow change it out. I actually did ask if there was red but then Sutton said, ‘I wanted it to be white.’” Sutton pled ignorance and apologized for making Crystal feel the way she did. Ultimately, Sutton had no problem with Crystal, and Crystal likewise seemed to be just fine after the fact.
