Does The Valley’s Brittany and Jax’s Separation Mean The Show is Fated to Fail?

In 2015, Jax Taylor paraded around his new girlfriend, Brittany Cartwright, in an attempt to put his bachelor days behind him. Not surprising to anyone, Brittany was a former Hooters waitress. Perhaps she caught the villain’s eye with her speedy table service. Through some miracle, or God just turning a blind eye, Jax and Brittany became engaged in 2018, but not before they broke up and made up after infidelity rumors turned out to be true.

I would never choose to be with someone with as many red flags as Jax. He happily shits on national TV with cameras watching, so he would be a big “Hell no” for me. But to each their own. But I was also not surprised by this week’s bombshell that the two have decided on trial separation.

Two Homes

On Tuesday, Brittany shared via her podcast, When Reality Hits an update about her marriage with Jax. The mother of one shared, “Jax and I are taking time apart, and I made the decision to move into another home to take some space for the sake of my mental health.” I genuinely didn’t think many followers would care, but with their spinoff, The Valley, premiering this month, naturally, a lot is at stake.

Brittany went on to say, “Many of you guys have been asking me about Jax and I and our relationship. I just think it’s important to be real and honest with you guys because… we’ve shared so much of our lives with you guys.”

I don’t think she wants to be honest. She probably wants viewership to go up so she can secure another Bravo check. Brittany signed off by asking listeners to “pray for us.” But if I can be blunt, God already failed to help you find a better man than Jax; why would prayers help you now, B?

Will the Valley Be Affected?

I can’t imagine what it was like to have to make a life with Jax, but I am hoping the new show concentrates a bit on their inner workings. The Valley will follow around the now-separated couple, presumably when they might have been going through their struggles. Jax traded bottle service for diapers as The Valley will show the OGs essentially all grown up. But I can’t help but wonder if the show’s success might be affected by the breakup.

Naturally, viewers will tune in to see if they can spot any kernels of trouble between Jax and Brittany, but much like Scandoval on Vanderpump Rules, this break will be playing out in real-time. So, a second season of The Valley might be out of the question since fans will already know months ahead of time what their fate is.

Jax and Brittany Have Different Definitions of Separated

I feel like Brittany is really leaning into the role of a strong, powerful woman, especially with her latest Instagram Story reading, “If a woman holds the power to create life, she also holds the power to create the life she wants.” So while Brittany is regaining her inner calm so she presumably doesn’t whoop Jax’s ass on the daily, the House of Villains star has his own very different thoughts about his looming breakup.

Jax told Page Six only hours after his wife came clean about their hard year that “It’s not going to tear us apart. It’s not evil or nastiness.” Jax doubled down, sharing he had no doubt they would reunite sharing “I mean, this is not divorce. We’re just taking some time apart. Just trying to reassess our situation.”

To be honest, Jax seemed just as confused as followers as he noted, “She was in a house for a while, but, yeah, she’s back now. We’re actually living together, living in our home right now. We’re trying to figure it out. It’s all fresh and new.” Yet photos were snapped the same day of Brittany seemingly moving into her new abode.

The Beginning of the End

I had doubts from the beginning about The Valley because, to be perfectly honest, I just didn’t want to watch Jax, Brittany, Kristen Doute, and their new friends try to tell me how hard life is now that they aren’t fighting in the back of SUR. I mean, I don’t see Jax and Brittany getting back together. The man is a feral animal, and I was pretty shocked about all the other times she let things go that Jax did. So why she stayed so long is beyond me. But my guess is The Valley will be shortlived thanks to their little scandal.
