If anyone has been paying attention, the newest season of The Real Housewives of Potomac has shown the group of women more divided than ever. Almost every week, I have questioned what I have been watching. Between the Nneka Ihim and Wendy Osefo drama, Robyn Dixon trying to save face, and Candice Dillard Bassett’s singing career, it’s all been a bit much. It feels as if Bravo tried its best to cram everything into this season, but the storyline is just bloated and empty. Even though the Real Housewives of Potomac Season 8 fell a bit flat on the drama, the women are making up for it with their reunion looks.
Thanks to a mini gift from the Bravo Gods, fans can see a sneak peek of what the women will wear when they grace the couch to answer Andy Cohen’s burning questions. Like the women, the cherry blossoms are in full bloom. This time, the women brought out their best fashion for a black theme. Here are all of the Real Housewives of Potomac Season 8 reunion looks, ranked from best to worst.
Gizelle Bryant
Perhaps my favorite Potomac housewife this season has been Gizelle Bryant, thanks to her storyline revolving around her daughter heading off to college. She also started an athletic wear company with Ashley Darby, GnA. And even though people (Karen Huger) love to poke fun at G’s dress aesthetic, I think she pretty damn well on her choice. The black dress is sleek and looks to be made of spandex material with Gizelle giving the look a nod to the Mob Wives of the 90s.
The OG told Bravo she was inspired, saying, “I just thought I might move into my inner Jersey girl and become a mob wife.” Let me tell you, I adore Gizelle’s accessories and give her grace for those high heels. She looks like a Jersey angel.
Nneka Ihim
Ohh, the rookie showed up to play in her reunion dress. Nneka wowed in a glitter black dress, making sure everyone could see her coming from a mile away. Staying true to her Nigerian roots, Nneka called on Nigerian designer Xtrabridelagos for a “custom” dress. She shared, “I’m so excited for everyone to see it. Perhaps my favorite part was her creative cleavage and mile-wide smile.
Candiace Dillard Bassett
Even though Candiace didn’t comment on her gown while backstage, it is to die for! Again, I am not a fan of Candiace, but I am a fan of her dress. The dress was made of satin and long, with a slit hitting just below her thigh. The deep, sweetheart neckline gave hauntingly beautiful villain vibes as the touch of lace added a sweet side to the entire look. All I can say is I’d like to see more of these kinda looks, please.
Wendy Osefo
I didn’t hate Wendy’s look, and you can’t really go wrong with a black-and-white ensemble. But I didn’t know if I was getting Dr. Wendy, a talk show host, or a guest at the MET Gala. The Johns Hopkins University professor revealed “We are giving art gallery, we are giving art museum, we are giving chic, we are giving very classic. The professor has arrived!” That she has, and class is in session!
Mia Thornton
Ms. Mia Thornton wore a floor-length gown with what seemed to be a see-through corset top. A massive bow on top of her shoulder added drama (not that we need it with this group). Nneka C. Alexander made the dress with the whole vibe being “Vogue.”
Ashley Darby
Okay, so while I am not a huge fan of the pantless trend that Paige DeSorbo started, Ashley’s dress works for her. According to the mother of two, the dress was “inspired by the famous yet controversial painting ‘Madame X’ by John Singer Sargent.” The model in the portrait was known for her fashion sense, with the dress designer, Riley Knoxx, sharing, “It took over 300 hours and is completely hand-made and adorned with over 1,000 black diamond Swarovski crystals.” Ashely added black shimmer arm-length gloves to complete the look.
Karen Huger
Karen looks as though she’s across the pond in the English court, probably entertaining everyone with a tale of the Grand Dame’s exploits. Again, I wasn’t a huge fan of this look, especially with the sharp, straight edge across the collarbone. Karen accessorized as a Grand Dame should, with Yves Saint Laurent jewelry sharing her inspiration was “Powerfully, elegant, modern woman.”
Robyn Dixon
I have to be brutal here, but I didn’t love Robyn’s look because I think it aged her. According to Robyn, her “look has a little edge, it’s a little different.” The floor-length dress featured an element of draping, which made the garment extremely unique and almost made her feel like she could be in the Palace of Versailles. The mother of two sons added a spandex pant boot to complete the look adding, “I was just trying to find something to not make black basic and boring but edgy.”
