Tom Schwartz Gives Honest Opinion on Jax Taylor’s Bar

Following in the footsteps of Vanderpump Rules’ creators, Jax Taylor and Tom Schwartz have each dipped their toes into the restaurant game. Of course, reports conflict as to their success in the industry.

Schwartz himself has always suggested that his business is doing well, despite persistent rumors that the bar could shut down. The bad publicity from Scandoval didn’t help matters. Ultimately, the Schwartz & Sandy’s team asked Tom Sandoval to step back and act as a silent partner.

Perhaps Jax has been fairing better with his restaurant and bar. If one were to ask Tom, he’d say both establishments are in a great place.

Tom says he’s “proud” of Jax and his bar

During his recent Watch What Happens Live appearance, a pair of fans called in to ask Schwartz what he thought of Jax’s bar. “His is more of a sports bar,” Tom began. “It’s a sports bar slash cocktail lounge. And I’m honestly really proud of him. He’s really stepped up and he’s a great host.”

Schwartz continued, “I’m proud of him. It’s a tough business. I know just enough to know it’s grueling. It’s rough on your personal relationships, you know? It’s all-consuming and he’s done a heck of a job, though.”

Andy Cohen then asked how business was at Schwartz & Sandy’s. “We are in the midst of a Schwartz & Sandy’s resurgence,” Tom responded. The audience gave what seemed to be reluctant applause. “We’ve got new food coming, new drinks, new music performances, DJs, new sound system … It’s a renaissance.”

Andy pointed out that they’d recently added TVs to the bar, asking if that was Jax’s influence. “I was campaigning for TVs from the beginning,” Schwartz responded. “But my partners didn’t necessarily agree. But now we have synergy again … Everything feels shiny and brand new.”

Vanderpump Rules continues Tuesdays at 8/7c on Bravo.
