Brittany Cartwright is not having an easy first season of The Valley, and it’s not even all Kristen Doute’s fault. The cracks are starting to show when it comes to the breakdown of her marriage with Jax Taylor. Not only does she feel underappreciated by her husband, but she also fears that her plans were being thwarted by Jax’s antics.
Jax has spent the entire season stressing about the opening of his bar. He said at the beginning of The Valley that he didn’t want to let the bar get in between his marriage like some other friends he knows. However, he’s doing just that. During the latest episode of the show, Brittany and Jax’s tension boiled over when they fought about their future.
Brittany and Jax are on separate pages
Jax and Brittany finally had a date night at the end of the latest episode of The Valley. It didn’t have a romantic ending as they probably planned. Jax was bringing up the stress from his bar while Brittany kept reminding him that they planned to start trying to have a second child the following month. While Jax has been tip-toeing around it, he finally came out and said he didn’t feel ready to bring another kid into their lives.
Brittany was emotional, even though Jax told her she wasn’t allowed to be. She cried at the table and felt she was on a different page than her husband. “I just feel like I don’t even know him right now. He is just completely blindsiding me,” Brittany said in a confessional. “I am a great mom, I’m a great wife and it almost feels like I’ve done something wrong. And I know I haven’t. So it f–king sucks.”
Meanwhile, in his confessional, Jax felt it wasn’t responsible to bring another kid into the mix if they weren’t ready.
“I can’t think of anything more overwhelming right now than bringing another child in this world,” Jax said. “Do I keep working on the marriage or do I throw another kid in the mix when everything’s already going to sh*t? It’s not going to help our marriage, it’s going to make it worse.” Uh oh. Well, we all know in real time how this conversation ended up, but we’ll have to wait and see exactly how the separation went down.
