Welcome back to your In The City recap!
In last week’s episode, Amanda and Kyle set some ground rules for their “trial separation,” which confused other members of the group. Speaking of which, there was tension between several of the cast mates. Due to the rumors surrounding his and Whitney’s relationship, Kenny clashed with Andrea and his BFF, Gavin. So, what happened next?
Here’s exactly what went down in In The City Episode 5: “Trolley Off the Tracks.”
What happened in In The City Episode 5?

In Episode 5 – titled: “Trolley Off the Tracks” – Kyle took the cast out for a trip around the city on a trolley to promote Loverboy. But there was no love between Danielle and Amanda, who clashed over “homewrecker” allegations. Elsewhere, Kenny repaired his friendships with the boys after last week’s drama … and also tried to repair the relationship with his dad, whom he lost contact with decades ago. Here’s how it all unfolded…
Kyle and Kenny set the record straight

After clashing with both Andrea and Gavin over what they’d heard from Kyle, Kenny met with his friend over lunch to set the record straight on the status of his and Whitney’s relationship. “I had a lot of amazing things to say about Whitney,” he began. “But from this whole conversation, the only takeaway was that there’s no spark [between us].”
“This is a big misunderstanding,” Kyle replied, clarifying that he’d passed on the message that there was “questioning” of the spark rather than no spark at all. He then insisted that he only brought the comment up because he “related to it.” That makes sense, given that the future of his and Amanda’s relationship also had a big question mark hanging over it.
To that end, Kyle admitted that a lack of spark seemed to be an issue for him and Amanda. “We’re more like roommates that aggravate each other,” he confessed. “This is one last-ditch effort,” he added in a confessional about his and Amanda’s break. “We’re not at ground zero, but it basically feels like it.”
Eoin opened up about his ex

Kenny and Whitney weren’t the only In The City cast members facing rumors about their relationship. Danielle’s boyfriend (and soon-to-be baby daddy) was also hit with speculation about his ex-wife. Naturally, in this week’s episode, then, he was questioned about exactly that by Yvonne.
“So, is your divorce finalized?” she asked him, after admitting that she and Nick aren’t legally married in the US. “No,” he replied, “it’s still with lawyers.” To that, Yvonne asked if his ex lives nearby or in Dublin. Eoin confirmed she also lives in New York City, like the rest of the show’s stars. “Have you guys ever had any close encounters?” Yvonne pressed. Thankfully, the answer to that was a no from both Eoin and Danielle, who had some further insight to share.
“It’s not uncommon for people to do this,” she said of her and Eoin dating before his divorce was complete. “Sometimes it’s made to be so much worse, like if people are talking sh*t that you’re a homewrecker.” Danielle continued to say this is the “first time” in her life that she is “so content and happy,” which saddens her to tears because she feels people are “intent” on trying to knock her down. “Can’t a girl catch a break?” she went on, welling up.
Kenny did some digging

Following his mother’s passing, In The City newbie Kenny revealed he’s keen to locate his father, with whom he lost contact decades ago. To find his long-lost dad, Kenny enlisted the help of a private detective, although, in one of their earlier conversations, he admitted he didn’t even know if he was still alive at that point.
“If I can repair this relationship, it could help heal some of the issues I have around abandonment,” he said in a confessional about what he hopes the outcome will be. Elaborating on that with his girlfriend and co-star Whitney, Kenny explained that his relationship with his dad “didn’t have to end.” Instead, the pair lost touch when Kenny was a teenager, and his dad was living overseas. “Even though I don’t feel it day to day, it may be showing up in how I am in relationships,” Kenny continued. “I think repairing some of these things where I can … is valuable.”
The segment ended with Kenny getting a call from his PI, who had managed to track down some of Kenny’s family, including his half-brother’s son. Later on in the episode, things developed even further. Kenny learned his dad is now living in Florida with his wife. Although he struggled to make contact using the phone numbers the PI provided, a Facebook rabbit hole proved more successful. Stay tuned!
Kyle put the cast to work

Kyle enlisted the help of In The City’s cast to help him with a guerrilla marketing campaign for his beloved drinks brand, Loverboy. It saw the group ride around the city on a traditional trolley … but the vibe was less party bus and more party pooper.
“I didn’t know I’d be working today,” Amanda said of being roped in to help. “I have to pack, I’m moving, I’m making huge changes,” she went on. “But, I want to make this relationship work, so I’m here, and I’m being supportive in the most Amanda way possible: half-assed, but present.”
One by one, the rest of the cast turned up, with the likes of Gavin and Lindsay equally unimpressed at the reality of what they were there for. Gavin described the trolley as “janky,” while Lindsay said it looked like something from the 1970s. “To get through this day, I’m definitely going to need some Loverboys,” added Whitney.
Amends were made

On the trolley, Andrea, Gavin, and Kenny came face-to-face following their “misunderstanding” last week. And, that’s exactly what the trio, plus Kyle, put the issue down to: a “game of telephone.”
Beyond the whisperings, Andrea accused Kenny of handling the situation poorly, which he admitted. “I can be direct and abrasive,” he replied, as Gavin chimed in that this chat was proving far more “productive” than the previous one. And so, harmony between the boys was restored … but, for how long?
A group chat was questioned

As one drama came to a close, another one was just getting started. Following Danielle and Eoin’s catch-up with Yvonne and Nick, they confronted the group about rumors they were dating while he was still married.
Amanda and Kyle were particularly under the spotlight in the scenario. This was due to screenshots sent to a group chat they’d been in. Katie (of Summer House Reunion name-drop fame) was also dragged into it, despite not being on the trolley with the rest of the gang. Side note: When is she clocking in this season?
“We don’t know what’s true and what’s not,” Kyle said of the allegations, while Amanda seemingly pushed the blame onto Katie and her partner for “bringing it” to their attention in the group chat. Lindsay then questioned what the group chat had to do with the conversation, so Danielle explained a screenshot from a blog – which branded her a “homewrecker” – had been shared in it.
“Why would you perpetuate a rumor in a group chat?” Danielle said to Amanda and Kyle. To that, Amanda continued to wash her hands of any accountability and pushed back that Katie and her husband should be the ones catching heat. “No one posts a screenshot in a group chat just to be like ‘wow’,” Danielle replied in a confessional, while accusing Amanda of being “full of sh*t.”
Danielle and Amanda’s friendship fell apart

As the argument about the group chat raged on, Gavin queried whether the fight was actually about Danielle and Eoin’s relationship, or Danielle and Amanda’s. Nail. Head. Hit.
“I’ve always felt dismissed by Danielle, and that she doesn’t take me seriously,” Amanda said in a confessional. Providing context, a string of Summer House flashbacks of the pair played on screen. “She’s just not my bestie.”
Back on the trolley, things continued to escalate between the pair, and came to a peak when Amanda asked if the “homewrecker” allegation about Danielle was true. “I’m done,” Danielle said in response and stormed off. “You tried the wrong one, b*tch.”
Off the trolley, Danielle’s co-stars tried to console her, describing the situation as “hurtful.” While embracing her frenemy, Lindsay told her, “I don’t think you’re a homewrecker.” As for Eoin? Well, he found consolation by other means … that being: a local pub and a pint of Guinness.
Amanda moved out

In the final scene of Episode 5, Amanda finished packing up her belongings and moved out of the apartment she shared with Kyle. Before she left, however, she confronted Kyle about a new development in their separation.
“So, do you want to explain to me what happened last night?” she asked, keeping viewers in the dark. “Look, there’s no justification,” he replied, before she pushed back: “Who was in our apartment?”
“You’re bringing strangers back to our home while I’m asleep,” she revealed. “You had a woman in our home that you just met!” Yikes. From there, Amanda reminded Kyle she was trying to salvage their relationship (famous last words). In contrast, she accused him of “doing whatever the f*ck” he wanted.
“I was getting emotional last night thinking about how it was going to be our last night in the apartment together. And you do the one thing you know pisses me off, which is coming back late,” she went on. “This is the note that I’m leaving on.”
In an attempt to defend himself, Kyle told Amanda she had spent the weekend smoking. “You didn’t do anything,” he told her. “We had plans.”
“I wish you all the best,” she said as she left the apartment in tears. “I’m sorry,” Kyle said, trailing behind her. Well, there’s no surprise how this story ends.
In The City continues on Tuesdays at 9 PM ET/PT on Bravo. It streams on Peacock the following day.
