Soon, we might see our first firing on Below Deck Mediterranean Season 11. After a heated night between a stew and a deckhand took a rather sticky, nasty turn, all signs started pointing towards one of these parties losing their job. And that party might actually be Luke Brumer, even though his bedmate, Gen Lillie, has created far more waves than he has so far.

To recap, Aesha Scott chose drive over experience when forming her team, and as a result, Gen did not get the second stew position. Naturally, Gen hated this decision, and her comments about it have been never-ending ever since.

However, Gen did win Luke for at least one night and one morning of fun. But the way she and Luke ended things might have placed his job in jeopardy, not hers, and this is why the former fan favorite is facing almost-certain termination.

This season has such a great cast, where even the green yachties are learning quickly and pitching in as needed. Luke is one of these green crew members, but lately, he has started making mistakes on deck. We all know how Captain Sandy Yawn handles mistakes that affect her guests’ experiences. Spoiler alert: she fires the offending party.

During Episode 5, Luke packed the wrong beach chairs, leaving his guests inconvenienced at their lunch table. Joe Bradley clocked Luke for this in his talking head. As Joe explained, Luke is preoccupied with his personal problems. And as fans know, if Luke keeps making mistakes, he might soon be on the chopping block with Captain Sandy.

So, why is Luke so distracted? Well, that is the other side of this literal mess. At the start of Episode 5, Luke crawled down into Nathan Gallagher’s bunk, where Gen slept after their night together. Shortly after, we heard Gen say that Luke “came on [his] boss’s sheets.”

Unbeknownst to him, Nathan ended up sleeping on these soiled sheets for several nights. But as Aesha recently teased on Watch What Happens Live, Nathan will soon find out about this grossness. And when he does, fans “will see the repercussions of that” on Below Deck Med. Indeed, it sounds like a potential firing, or at least a solid smackdown, might be in store for Luke.

What do we know about Below Deck Med’s Luke Brumer?

So, who is Luke, other than being a newbie to Bravo this season? Well, Luke is a 35-year-old deckhand from South Africa, and he is also incredibly tall. Luke only has 16 months of experience, but even still, Nathan considered making Luke his lead deckhand instead of Joe. But after Luke crashed a tender during a trial run in Episode 2, Nathan course-corrected, and he eventually picked Joe as his lead deckhand instead.

Joe and Nathan are thankfully on decent terms, for now. Likewise, even after he crashed the tender, Luke remained on great terms with Nathan as well. But now that Luke is making mistakes that affect their guests, in addition to the whole sheets thing, all bets are now off regarding his job security this season.

Further alluding to his potential firing, in his Bravo bio, Luke noted that his special skills were “Handstands, impersonating accents (or trying to), eggs Benedict, making incredible smoothies, giving great hugs, and seeing the good in people.” But then, Luke admitted that his main takeaway from Season 11 was “Big. Lessons. Learned.” Whether or not these big lessons resulted in an early plane ticket home, however, remains to be seen.

Even if Captain Sandy fails to cut Luke loose, he will still have to contend with Joy Lefaucheur. When Luke walked on the yacht in Episode 1, he spotted Joy, and he was immediately smitten. The feelings were mutual. But everything changed once Luke started showing Gen attention as well.

Thanks to the trailer, we already know one thing: this love triangle will eventually explode during Season 11. It already somewhat has, but Joy is refusing to play these games. Instead of letting Luke have his cake and spill it too (on sheets), Joy has chosen to disengage from this situation entirely, which has seemingly made Luke like her even more. Luke is now trying to grab any time he can with Joy, even if that means staying up past his shift to help her wash the dishes.

His shifted attentions are starting to hurt Gen. Luke realized this as well, so at the tail end of the last episode, he tried to end things with her, but his words were less than clear. Now, Gen is sitting on one page, thinking Luke is about to let Joy go. Meanwhile, Luke is sitting on another page in an entirely different book altogether, ready to start something with Joy, not Gen.

Things are heating up for these three yachties. Yet, one question remains: How much longer will this love triangle exist, especially if Luke truly is on the chopping block for Below Deck Med Season 11?

Below Deck Mediterranean streams on Peacock.
