Welcome back for another round of The Real Housewives of Potomac, with the Season 8, Episode 11 recap! Last week, Candiace brought together most of the ladies for an elegant Mother’s Day Brunch. Later in the episode, she tried to smooth things over with Robyn, and that failed miserably. There’s still major division in the group, but all of that drama took a backseat this week.

In Episode 11, the ladies traveled to Surry County, Virginia with Karen. The Grande Dame recently bought a piece of her family’s farm and has plans to transform it into a resort. So, she assembled a “selected special crew” to accompany her to the property. Who’s ready for a field trip? Here’s what happened this week on RHOP Season 8, Episode 11: “First Come, First Served.”

Ashley and Gizelle join forces

Before the field trip to Surry County, there was plenty of ground to cover with the other Potomac ladies. First, the episode started with Gizelle and Ashley discussing their clothing line. They’re both looking to find new streams of revenue, especially Ashley, who admitted that she got a little too comfortable relying on her ex-husband’s money.

So, in a match made in hell, Gizelle and Ashley decided to launch a clothing line called GnA. No one asked for this, but Gizelle said she sees it as a combination of Lululemon meets Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty. She said they will have lace, rhinestones, mesh, and all sorts of other embellishments. She wants their line to be “sexy chic” while appealing to people ages 12-65.

It seems like GnA might still be in the discovery phase because if you look at their website, you won’t find anything with lace, rhinestones, or mesh. Instead, they have a black hoodie, a couple of t-shirts, two hats, and a pair of socks for sale.

Feeling salty with Mia and Robyn

Elsewhere in Potomac, Robyn and Mia met up at the Salt Sanctuary for a holistic therapy experience. Does it get any more quintessential Housewives than two ladies plopping down in a salt room? The woman working at the spa said that it would help clear their sinuses and respiratory tubes. It seems a little odd, but Mia said she was looking to explore all avenues of holistic cleansing and health.

Robyn and Mia have a lot in common, and we’ve seen their friendship blossom in Season 8. In this episode, they confided in each other over the fact that they were both dealing with rough patches in their marriages. Mia was shocked to learn that Robyn and Juan hadn’t sought professional help. Robyn said she didn’t think they needed it.

“Um, no, I really think — our issues are not with each other,” Robyn said. “Like, our issues are more just like, ‘OK, let’s just enjoy life more.'”

We’re not experts here, but doesn’t that sound like something the Dixons could discuss in therapy? Would it hurt to go to therapy at least once?

During the salt experience, Mia also confessed to Robyn that she had been seeking a divorce lawyer. Robyn was supportive in the moment but threw some major shade in her confessional interview. She said what we’ve all been thinking: Mia’s looking for a way out now that Gordon’s money is running dry.

Check the zip code

This week, Nneka officially got the Gizelle stamp of approval. The RHOP newbie invited Gizelle over to see her home/worksite in Potomac. Charrisse randomly showed up too — she must have seen the production vans outside and decided to crash the party.

When talking about Nneka, Gizelle said that she fits in with the group perfectly. She’s witty enough and intelligent enough to be a part of their circle. Gizelle likes her, and that’s probably a good indicator that Nneka won’t be a one-and-done Housewife. This show is about friendships, and there is one legitimately forming here.

During Gizelle’s visit, Nneka discussed how she previously met with Karen, who gave her a tour of the neighborhood. Apparently, Karen tried to be shady and said that Nneka is technically in North Potomac. When Nneka told Gizelle about the shade, the ladies laughed it off. Gizelle said, “Check the zip code.”

Nneka owns a house in Potomac. Karen is renting. So, Nneka wins that one by default. Sorry, Karen.

A shady invitation to Surry

Throughout this entire episode, a trip to Surry County, Virginia loomed over the group. At the Mother’s Day Brunch, Karen told the women that she wanted to bring a group of them to the property, but due to her liability insurance, she couldn’t bring everyone.

Since Karen can never just simply send out a normal invitation, she decided to put names in a hat and drew them out to determine who would be a part of her “special select crew.” The lucky lottery winners were Gizelle, Wendy, Candiace, and Ashley.

Karen sent a long text to the special crew to invite them to Surry County to see her grandmother’s house, participate in a blessing ceremony, and do some free labor. Gizelle declined her invitation, citing safety concerns. She said she didn’t want to ride on a sprinter bus with Wendy and Candiace, which is fair. We know that the worst Housewives drama always goes down on the sprinter bus, and if Gizelle is truly getting death threats from Wendy and Candiace’s fans, why would she want to walk into that situation?

After Gizelle declined the invitation, Karen somehow was able to up her liability insurance and ended up invitating everyone on the trip. The only problem is that the invitation came at the very last minute. Mia and Robyn declined, but Nneka agreed to take the trip. So, the specially selected crew expanded to Ashley, Wendy, Nneka, and Candiace.

Over the river and through the woods

During the final part of the episode, the selected special crew embarked for Surry County. Considering the weird circumstances surrounding the invitation, the energy on the bus ride was odd. Nneka called out Karen for sending out the last-minute invitation.

When the ladies arrived at Karen’s grandmother’s house, they briefly put aside their Housewives drama to recognize the importance of Karen’s project. The family farm has been in her family for over 100 years. Karen is a slave’s great-great-grandchild. The fact that she could buy a piece of the property and transform it into something positive is super special, and she’s hopeful that the story of her family farm can inspire other Black Americans to follow suit.

Karen and her special selected crew did a little bit of yard work and ran around the fields of Karen’s family farm. It’s always interesting learning about Karen’s rural background because it’s such a stark difference from where she is today.

At the end of the episode, the ladies had lunch together, and Ashley tried to encourage some positive conversation between Nneka and Wendy. Nneka said that she was open to reconciliation, and she invited everyone to an “unpacking party” at her house. However, Dr. Wendy said she wasn’t interested. She felt like Nneka should take a few more steps to hold herself accountable for coming into the group as hot as she did.

Karen told Wendy to put a pin in it and leave some space in her heart for growth. Can Dr. Wendy do that, or are she and Nneka too far gone? Either way, this nasty drama has no place in Surry County. Let’s revisit this back in Potomac.

The Real Housewives of Potomac continues on Bravo, Sunday nights at 8/7c.
