Marlo Hampton Won’t Return for The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 16

That was fast! Marlo Hampton spent many seasons warming the Real Housewives of Atlanta bench. But just two years after finally getting her shot at a full-time cast member, Marlo has decided to move on. Or, she was let go. It probably depends on who you ask.

It’s not hard to see why. RHOA has been in a spiral over the last few seasons and quickly lost footing with viewers. Even longtime fans of the show have expressed disappointment with the lack of compelling storylines. Key cast members have left and were never replaced with anyone particularly interesting. Looking at you, Sanya Richards-Ross!

Marlo shared the details of her departure with People.

Marlo needs a break

Marlo stated, “My contract with Real Housewives of Atlanta ended when Season 15 wrapped. This break from RHOA is a fresh start, allowing me the space to participate in new creative entertainment projects focused on my future, and not reliving my past.” Interesting that she is referring to it as a “break.”

The self-proclaimed “Munty” explained that her responsibilities at home played a factor. As featured on the show, Marlo is raising her two teenage nephews.

“My nephews are transitioning into pivotal stages of their academic adolescence, and I am focused on my representation in their eyes and getting back to showing my multifaceted lifestyle of philanthropy, fashion, and fabulosity! I am thankful for this amazing platform of Housewives, which has allowed me to bring awareness to foster care, my non-profit Glam It Up, Inc., and showcase my fashion showroom, Le’Archive.” Marlo noted.

She then concluded, “I look forward to my continued relationship with Bravo and NBC Universal.”

RHOA made its debut on Bravo in 2008 and has only recently stumbled in the ratings game. Bravo Daddy Andy Cohen tried to pooh-pooh that fact recently on his SiriusXM show. “We’ve got wonderful casting. We’ve got some amazing new gals, and this is gonna feel, I’m feeling very positive about the new season of Atlanta, so just standby and you will hear more,” he said.

Longtime castmate Kandi Burruss also announced she was “taking a break” from the show just a few weeks ago.
