Tom Schwartz Addresses ‘Surreal’ Jax Taylor Divorce Papers Scene: ‘I Had No Idea’

Jax Taylor has burned a lot of bridges. Obviously the first is with his ex-wife Brittany Cartwright. From chaotic headlines during their relationship to their current rollercoaster divorce, it’s safe to assume they aren’t getting back together. Then there’s his former Vanderpump Rules boss Lisa Vanderpump, who he hasn’t spoken to in years. The list continues with a finished friendship with Pete Madrigal and an up-and-down bond with Kristen Doute.

The point is, there’s not a lot of VPR and The Valley stars who will stand by him. One of the only ones is none other than Tom Schwartz. His close friend and also his neighbor, Tom has been standing by Jax’s side throughout this separation.

Tom Schwartz was with Jax Taylor when he got served divorce papers on The Valley Season 2

In Season 2, Episode 10, Jax was served with the divorce papers on-camera. Tom recently reflected on his perspective of the moment, as he was there with Jax as it all went down.

“It was a very surreal moment. Heavy and heartfelt. I’m glad I was there. I feel like I kind of put Jax at ease. He knows I do hold him accountable, but in that moment, I was listening and trying to not judge and to just break the news to him easily. I had no idea that was coming,” he told Decider.

It’s not shocking that Tom is BFFs with Jax, once you consider Tom has repaired his friendship with Tom Sandoval. Guess he has a type, which is being besties with the most controversial reality TV star at a given time.

He did make it clear, though, that he isn’t submissive to the headlines. He understands what Jax has done, but Tom also wants to give him credit for his progress.

“He has some – and he’ll be the first to tell you this – deep-rooted mental health issues. He’s really got some demons that he’s got to learn how to wrestle or tame. At least from what I see, he is putting in the work.”

The Valley airs on Tuesdays at 8/7c on Bravo, and streams the next day on Peacock. It’s also available for streaming on Hayu in the UK and Ireland.
