We’ve entered an era where “unity” is the new buzzword on deck. In theory, we are to work with and accept those who don’t necessarily think the way we do, in an effort to bring people together for the overall betterment of humanity. It’s a nice idea, but apparently that particular message of harmony has yet to reach the Real Housewives of Potomac. Lots of things happened during the 5th season of RHOP and unity wasn’t one of them.
Candiace Dillard’s square tissue became a star. Monique Samuels’ African Grey became an icon. There was… a fight. And longtime friends Karen Huger and Gizelle Bryant found themselves on opposite teams, insulting each other through many of the episodes. The Grand Dame and Giz neither resolved their issues or agreed to disagree, so if you think the insulting stopped just because they aren’t currently filming, you would be wrong. Now we learn Karen hasn’t even spoken to Gizelle since the reunion, but she has spoken about Gizelle since the reunion.
I think everyone might agree several shows on Bravo could benefit from a cast shake-up. Even after surviving a controversial season, it appeared the cast of Real Housewives of Potomac would remain intact. To say these ladies have some issues is being generous. From hands-on combat to sketchy “men of God” with more illegitimate children than sense, RHOP checked a lot of unusual boxes.
Viewers will say ta ta to Monique Samuels. Despite a physical fight with Candiace Dillard, Mo originally decided to stay on the show until the reunion changed her mind. There have also been rumors that Robyn Dixon, while not generally disliked, some fans feel she adds nothing to the cast and needs to go sit wherever Juan Dixon is. Obviously Monique’s departure leaves a hole to be filled, but word on the street is RHOP is looking to cast two new people. Is someone’s check in jeopardy? Did having four degrees not make DOCTOR Wendy Osefo interesting? Can we offer T’Challa a spot?
Real Housewives of Potomac finally had their look-at-us season. It’s been around since 2016, but some folks are just waking up to the east coast ladies thanks to Monique Samuels and the hair-grab heard around the world. Her barn dance with Candiace “I’m Not Provoking You” Dillard put the show on the map and brought new viewers to the RHOP fan base. The original cast has remained largely intact. Robyn Dixon has been on board since day one. She has been portrayed as a somewhat tragic figure, living with her ex-husband who cheated on her and seemingly yearning for a reconciliation despite the infidelity.
And that’s basically been Robyn’s party trick since the beginning. Her storyline never ventured far from the Juan Dixon saga. Is Juan still cheating? Will Juan remarry Robyn? But the real question is, will Robyn ever have content beyond Juan and making hats that no one asked for? There has been some chatter that Robyn is stale and offers very little to RHOP, especially on the heels of the Drag Me 2020 tour. Monique has left the building, but is anyone else departing? Apparently not, Robyn is shutting down any speculation she was #firedbybravo.
Well folks, THIS IS IT. We have reached the end of the road for this season of The Real Housewives of Potomac. It felt like this day would never come. One of the best seasons of Housewives in recent memory. The fight between Monique Samuels & Candiace Dillard Bassett was one of the most talked about moments EVER. Top tier television.
When we last left the women, Candiace was rushing off set in tears after discussing the fight. Monique however remained emotionless and matter of fact about the altercation. The two contrasting reactions to reliving the events was fascinating to watch. This time, the husbands are joining the women on stage, so hopefully things don’t get too out of control. Although, how bad can it get with creepy Michael Darby out of the picture this time?
How is it possible that this season of The Real Housewives Of Potomac is coming to an end? What a stellar season it has been. Top notch television from beginning to end. The fight between Monique Samuelsand Candiace Dillard Bassett changed everything though. There’s been a divide ever since, and that tension is about to boil over on this finale. It’s time for the men to get in on the action I suppose. Michael Darby, do your thing.
Candiace is questioning her friendship with Karen Huger now. At one point does straddling the line between two fighting friends become shady? Should she have to pick a side? Candiace certainly thinks so. After feeling set up at Karen’s wig party, it will be interesting to see where the two of them go from here. The damage is done because TRUST is broken.
The Portugal fun is almost over for The Real Housewives of Potomac. It was a much needed vacation away from the chaotic drama back home. However, the fun and excitement is about to come to a screeching halt. Ashley Darby wrote a statement against Candiace Dillard Bassett on behalf of Monique Samuels. Once Candiace learns this bit of information, the current peace in the group is over.
There’s an underlying level of tension in the group ever since the incident at the barn. In a perfect world, people shouldn’t have to take sides when something like this goes down. However, it’s not a perfect world. Both Candiace and Monique want people within the group to see things from their POV. Unfortunately for Candiace, Monique may be winning over Karen Huger. La Dame might actually be La Backstabber.
During the last episode of Real Housewives of Potomac, Robyn Dixon told Gizelle Bryant she’s not going to include photos of Karen Huger on her website,
where she’s selling tacky hates to pay off her tax debts.
She claimed that Karen’s photo isn’t as good as the others’. So, why didn’t she take a glance at the camera throughout the photo shoot to check on how things were going? Why doesn’t she invite Karen to do a re-take? Why doesn’t she just realize that having Karen on the website is going to help her
pay off her debts sell these hats? And, why did she and Gizelle have to be so cruel (yet again) making fun of Karen’s age? It’s not kind and it’s not even clever. Do better, green-eyed bandits.
Portugal is the much needed reset The Real Housewives of Potomac needed to move on from the fight. I understand the altercation between Monique Samuels and Candiace Dillard Bassett was a big deal. However, they can’t let that one incident drag down the entire season. Letting loose and having some fun even if it’s just temporary, lightens everything in a big way.
We last left these lovely ladies with Gizelle Bryant and Karen Huger at odds. They each want to meddle in the other’s relationship, and it’s a vicious cycle. They’ve been throwing digs at each other for five seasons now, and it never changes. One day it might boil over and reach the point of no return, but for now, let’s enjoy the back and forth shade. Jamal Bryant isn’t around ever, but is it Karen’s place to call that out?
