In today’s not so shocking news, a report states Teen Mom star Gary Shirley is broke and homeless.
According to OK! magazine, Gary, who has custody of his 2-year-old daughter with Amber Portwood, has been evicted from his house in Anderson, Indiana.
“He’s flat broke,” explains an insider, who says Gary’s been living on friends’ couches – often with his daughter, Leah. Yikes.
“I’m really worried about Leah. She’s such a good kid. She never really cries and is always laughing; but her life is so unstable,” says the pal. “She never knows who is going to feed her, change her, babysit her or where she’s going to sleep.”
Gary, 25, is of course denying the report, saying he is not broke though oddly enough he doesn’t deny being homeless. He tweeted, “Rumors of being broke are false. I’ve chosen to move and am in that transition. Leah is completely fine and obviously always cared for.”
Just weeks ago, TMZ reported Gary spent over $5,000 while out on a stripper bender.
And unfortunately for little Leah, it appears her mom Amber, 21, isn’t doing much better. Just a week after she left her Malibu rehab facility, following 2 months of treatment, OK! magazine is reporting that Amber is having a hard time coping.
“She sleeps 18 hours a day and hasn’t really changed her habits,” reveals a Gary insider. Amber’s rehab stint came after she attempted to take her own life back in June.
A new episode of Teen Mom airs tonight on MTV at 10/9c.

I am not kidding-I saw Gary two weeks ago at the Britney Spears concert in Indianapolis-he was lower level-I know those seats were over $300 b/c we looked into them. Just proves the things he spent his money on!

At the rate some of these “stars” seem to be pissing all their newfound MTV money away on pure laziness as well as putting it down strippers panties, I wouldn’t be suprised if most of them wind up broke and homeless when this show finally tanks.
So it seems to me that Gary Shirley is just the first one leading the way.

Poor Leah! She doesn’t stand a chance in this world with these two as parents! I think Amber does truly love Leah, but at this point in her life, she truly can’t be the mother that Leah needs; and I think she knows that. Amber has clearly been crying out and acting out for help for a while, even before Leah was born. I just hope she gets it soon, for Leah’s sake. As for Gary, he obviously uses Leah as a pawn in his twisted game of “love” with Amber because he knows that is the only real way for him to hurt her. He doesn’t even spend all his time with Leah because he’s off partying and wasting what little $ he gets from MTV.

@Andi, you aren’t alone! My friend saw him at the same concert and we were talking about the same exact thing. I cannot imagine how hard it must be for Amber just getting out of rehab, but she needs to get herself together for her daughter, especially if this story is true. Leah shouldn’t be sleeping on couches. Her dad should get a job and support his daughter. @Nancy, go get her!
Someone needs to intervene…Child Services??? Give this child a chance in life, please! Gary and Amber BOTH need parenting and life skills classes. The show pays them a large sum of money and they piss it away….maybe it should be doled out like an allowance, with their rent and bills paid first, and some set aside in a trust for Leah.
If MTV is going to exploit them…help them, too.
Amber got out of rehab but what is her support system. She went back to the same place, same people and same habits. Sounds like she is suffering depression on top of all her other issues. Both Amber and Gary have no goals and are just plain lazy. They are happy to live off the system which for now is MTV. MTV will use them up and then toss them aside. Why wasn’t money put aside for Leah. MTV should have made that part of the contract with each parent(s) -no money until the show is OVER! Shouldn’t we be seeing their lives as it really would be if they had to find a way to survive and provide for themselves and their kids. Some children are taken away from parents for a lot less than what they have been doing.
Maybe Gary should have kept some of that 5,000 and found a place to rent for at least 5 months. These people are freaking dumb.
When you put young kids in these types of unstable situations you set them up to be victims of abuse . I mean bouncing your child around from couch to couch with different people is very unsafe. I hope for Leah’s sake someone will be watching out for her in the near future. Maybe Amber’s big brother or someone else that is stable in that family structure. She is such a sweet little girl
Completely false!!!!! OK magazine is full of shit. I have dealt with them in the past and they are worthless, unreliable and not a credible source of information.
Whenever I see any attention made to this show I throw up in my mouth. It’s a really sad display of what our society has turned into. I cannot believe this is even on television. They should be shamed into oblivion, not embraced, glorified, and PAID. Disgusting!
This is just a little taste of what goes on in thousands of homes in our country. Sadly, the Child Protective Services are overrun with cases and if every child who lived in a dirty house with lazy parents were taken away from them, the foster care system would implode. I’m shocked that so many people think they can just take kids away from their parents. You pretty much have to be found with a needle hanging out of your arm and coccaine up your nose with a child covered in bruises before they do anything to remove a child from it’s parents, unfortunately.
And based on Gary’s quote in the story above, it does sound like he is disputing the homeless accusation because he said he had “chosen to move and am in that transition.” Is that kinda like “between jobs” as opposed to “unemployed”??
This situation will never change until a real tragedy occurs. What in the hell is it going to take for CPS to remove Leah from this horror show? She deserves a good life, like Catelynn and Tyler’s baby.
I cannot believe that you can put a trainwreck like these two on TV and the STILL have custody of this poor child!!! When are the authorities going to take her away and put her in a decent home with a real family?!!!
I don’t feel sorry for Gary or amber one bit they are both adults they choose the path they are on. Gary and amber earned more money in six months of filming then most college students who just graduate instead of blowing there money on concerts and themselves they should save that huge paycheck for Leah future education and a down payment on a house and they both should took there lazy fat ass to school
@ 15 Bea – that is a good point about putting money aside for these kids. MTV should of had a trust that couldn’t be touched by the parents. At least that way when the child comes of age there would be money for education etc. It is a sad situation with Amber and Gary. Neither one appears stable or is motivated to improve their lot in life. Sadly they are setting a horible example for Leah. She has no consistency in her life and that makes for a very insecure child. So sad.
Gosh, can someone just take poor Leah away from these two losers. CPS has already been involved – where the H are they?! Neither one of Leah’s parents are worth one whit! Gary and Amber care more about exploiting her than anything else. We’ll probably be seeing her on Toddlers in Tiaras next – Gary would totes be a pagent dad! Both of them are such WT losers they are an embarrassment to humanity.
Sorry to sound harsh, but my heart just breaks for that little girl. And yes, MTV needs to get more responsible with the finances and put money in a trust for the babies since their parents are on the whole so irresponsible they certainly aren’t capable of it!

I totally agree with you!!! Sleep? What sleep? I was a nurse, working full time when my one and only precious gift was born. The next time I was lucky enough to get 5 hours of sleep was when he was 2 years old!!!! These two are clearly not mature or responsible enough to have or take care of a child. Leah needs and deserves to be in a safe and loving home. If you want to see history repeat itself, leave her where she is and see how her life turns out when she is 17!!!!!!!!!!!! Very sad!!!!!

I really doubt Gary would ever be homeless. His Mom still babies him and she takes care of Leah a lot. He probably is broke because he put all his money in to the “It’s Gary Time” shenannigans.

Amber was destined to be on the dole–doesn’t matter if it’s the state dole or MTV dole. That’s her lot in life. She doesn’t have any of the skills necessary to be successful in life (eg. an education, work ethic, morals, values, etc). That’s not MTV’s fault. That’s her parent’s fault. Smart kids make the right decisions in life, dumb kids make the wrong decisions. If Amber won the lottery tomorrow, she would fritter away her winnings on stupid shyt. She has no common sense.
