I wish the reality TV cameras were rolling when Melissa Gorga’s former business partner Jackie Beard Robinson pushed (again) for the judge to take her case against Melissa and Andy Cohen to trial – instead of settling the matter outside of court.
Jackie is upset that she looks like a “felon” after Melissa shared on Real Housewives of New Jersey that she came into her store Envy in the middle of the night and left with the merchandise. Melissa discussed this with Andy during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live and now Jackie wants $30 million from them. Where does that number even come from? That is no chump change. I wish I was privy to the reasoning behind requesting such a large sum of money.
On Thursday, March 22, Jackie asked the judge (again) if the case could go to trial. I get being embarrassed and upset at the nationally televised portrayal, but I feel like everyone would forget about it, if Jackie didn’t continue to bring up the situation in a very public manner.
Page Six obtained court documents from Jackie’s team – yes, she has a whole team working on this attempt to garner attention task.
According to the document, “This matter centers around malicious and per se defamatory statements made by Gorga and Cohen – falsely accusing Robinson of having committed a crime – that were broadcast on national television for millions of viewers to see, which have severely damaged Robinson’s reputation and goodwill nationwide, but primarily in her community where she resides in the Southern District of Florida.”
That’s understandable – to a certain extent – but this whole thing would die down if Jackie didn’t continue to keep the story alive.
The documents also state, “[Gorga and Cohen] seek here to take this matter out of the hands of the Court and into arbitration. This strategy is likely calculated in order to ensure that [their] malicious and tortious conduct is not placed before a jury in this judicial district.” Damn.
