Dr. Drew cuts right to the chase and asks for the status on Kail and Javi’s marriage. Supposedly Kail doesn’t know yet because it’s hard to make big life decisions while he’s gone. We all know she’s made up her mind, so maybe the life decisions she’s unsure of aren’t related to staying in the marriage, but rather what kind of visitation schedule Javi should have for Lincoln or how much child support she should demand. For now, she’s just focusing on her career. Dr. Drew high fives her for being the only one of all the teen moms to graduate from a 4-year university, which makes Kail tear up.
Jenelle, David, the boys, and Maryssa are in the car headed to go fishing. Kaiser is screaming as usual and Jace joins in. David yells at Jace that he’s six years old and shouldn’t be screaming like a girl. I bet he also tells Jace not to do things that seem “gay.” By the time they get to the lake, Jenelle and David are both irritated with Kaiser’s squealing. Jenelle points her finger at him and yells at him to stop screaming, which obviously doesn’t work. David says he takes after his daddy, Nathan Griffith, who’s a “little screaming bitch.” Sounds like a more apt description of Jenelle. Jenelle swears they’re never taking Kaiser with them on the boat again because they can never do anything with him around. Did she expect that a toddler was going to be able to sit on a boat for a few hours and care at all about fishing?
Leah Messer and Miranda Simms discuss Ali’s accusations that Miranda doesn’t help her and only pays attention to Remi, but they manage to keep it civilized. We don’t see Kailyn Lowry talk toJavi Marroquin at all, but she tells her friends and Jo Rivera that things are tough and it looks like she’s headed toward a divorce. Chelsea Houska and Cole DeBoer celebrate Pete the Pig’s first birthday while Aubree cheers Adam Lind on in a weight-lifting competition. Jenelle continues searching for answers to her medical problems and has a blow-up with Babs when she chooses spring break over an important event for Jace.
It seems like every time things start to improve for the Teen Mom 2 moms and dads, they take a big step back – except for Jenelle Evans, who never seems to be improving.
On last night’s episode, Jenelle’s health is rapidly deteriorating, with a list of symptoms ranging from hot flashes to an inability to spell. Kailyn Lowry works on improving her relationship with Vee Torres, but things are looking rockier between her and Javi Marroquin. Any good feelings Leah Messer had left about her relationship with Corey Simms are gone after hearing what Ali’s going through at his house. Things are still blissful in Chelsea Houska Land, especially when Adam Lind proves he hasn’t changed, even though for a split second, it seemed like he was really trying to be a better father.
Despite the girls being in their mid-twenties, MTV has decided to give them yet another season to try to emulate Chelsea Houska by getting their acts together. It won’t happen, but we watch despite (and probably because of) the incessant trainwreckitude. “It’s the same story every season,” sighs a source.
Chelsea and three of her girlfriends make Cole DeBoer drive them to a wedding venue several hours away. Does Cole have friends? It seems odd to me that he would go on this trip unless he has nothing better to do. I’d rather stay home and babysit Chelsea’s mammoth dog and Pete-Pete. Before they head out, the girls and the hair monster living on Chelsea’s head push Mary’s car out of a snow drift.
Last night’s episode confirmed it for me: this season of Teen Mom 2 is too long. How many times can we hear the same stories retold over and over and over again?
Chelsea Houska is trying to get Adam Lind’s child support adjusted, Adam impresses himself, Isaac doesn’t want Javi Marroquin to leave, Leah Messer thinks she has her s–t together, and Jenelle Evans won’t let Nathan Griffith see Kaiser. Some of the story lines actually moved last night, though. Jenelle finally met with Nathan, Javi left for deployment, Chelsea has a new plan for Aubree’s name, and Leah gets a court date for custody reconsideration.
Last week, we witnessed Leah’s awkward dinner with Jeremy Calvert and this week we relive it through her recap to friend Kayla. Jeremy has no interest in Leah, but that’s okay, because Leah doesn’t want to be in a relationship. She needs time and is focusing on her kids. Tinder hookups don’t count. Right after telling Kayla that Ali will eventually lose muscle function in her organs, Ali falls off a swing. It’s a sad reminder that Ali’s condition will continue to deteriorate.
