Has Jail Changed Joe Giudice? RHONJ Stars Weigh In

Time sure flies when you’re having fun, or serving a 41-month prison sentence…  Teresa Giudice’s husband, Joe Giudice, is finally seeing the end of his time in prison. But what will his release mean for Teresa and their four beautiful daughters? What will Nonno think? I have questions!! And I’m not the only one. Teresa and other Real Housewives of New Jersey cast members discussed their expectations for his release.

Let’s face it, some things will be different when Juicy Joe is a free man. He has been on the inside for a good three years. Times have changed. Not only that, but so has Teresa. Will Joe be able to orient himself to a new way of life? When he went in, Teresa was a proud “old school” Italian wife. She deferred to Joe for advice on both personal and financial matters. Now, she might want to skip the latter from this point forward. Since Joe’s incarceration, Teresa has taken it upon herself to show her newly found independence and has declared herself a “different person”.

The cast shared their thoughts during interviews for the Real Housewives of New Jersey After ShowMelissa Gorga said, “It’s a lot of time as a married couple to do things apart and independently. [There are] decisions now where Teresa doesn’t look to anyone for an answer. And she kind of makes a decision on her own.” Exhibit A: Teresa’s new bodybuilding venture. During the show, Teresa mentioned she did not think Joe would be too thrilled if she paraded around on stage in a bikini. Clearly, she was able to overcome this obstacle.

Dolores Catania feels the same way that Melissa does. She declared, “Joe coming home is not coming home to the same Teresa he left.” Of course, Teresa is still a loving and focused mother, but let’s face it: their children have really grown and do not require so much of her attention.

Teresa’s brother, Joe Gorga, believes Juicy Joe will be a “different guy” when he is released. Joe shared, “I asked my sister a question. I said ‘Listen, what’s going to happen when Joe comes home? You’re this different person. I see you definitely different and you like to go out a little bit more. You’re not the same Teresa.'”

Joe continued, “You know what she said to me ‘When my husband comes home, I’m going to be with him and I’m going to go out with him.'” I would normally assume this is a given. But, hey, have we forgotten about that little hangnail called deportation? Sorry, I digress…

The general cast consensus is that Juicy will have a new respect for life, a new respect for his wife, and he will be a changed man. Dolores compared Joe’s prison stay to how people “change” in college. He grew up around the same people and this was his first time in a new environment (I’ll say).

Margaret Josephs agrees with Dolores. She rhetorically asked, “I think when you’re in jail, how can you not change?” As for Teresa’s input on how Joe may react, she shared, “We’ll deal with that when it happens.” Absence makes the heart grow fonder, OR DOES IT?

I certainly hope that it works out for Joe and Teresa. Either way, the Giudice girls will be thrilled to have their daddy back.

TELL US – WILL JOE COME HOME FROM COLLEGE/CAMP/JAIL AND EXPECT TERESA TO BE THE SUBMISSIVE, ATTENTIVE, HOUSE-CLEANING WIFE OF DAYS GONE BY? OR THROUGH THE MIRACLE OF ABSENCE WILL HE EMBRACE HIS LIBERATED WIFE AND SUPPORT HER NEW WAYS?
