One of the saddest stories to come out of the Bravo family in a long time was the death of Teresa Giudice’s father, Giacinto Gorga. We all know him as the affectionately named “Nonno” from the show. Nonno passed away on April 3rd and most of his family has opened up their hearts and shared their grief on social media since then. Both Teresa and Joe Gorga’s kids posted loving thoughts and messages on Instagram. So did Joe Giudice, saying of his father-in-law, “Thank you for setting an example for us and my girls-you’re an exemplary example. We benefited from it every day.”
It’s going to be hard to watch Real Housewives of New Jersey without Nonno. Throughout the years, we’ve seen him as the center of his entire family. We even saw his grief when his beloved wife, Antonia Goga died back in 2017. I will never forget watching Nonno cry over missing his wife. But Nonno gave us so many good times on the show and it’s clear that it’s not just his family that will miss him.
One of Teresa’s longtime friends and castmates, Margaret Josephs recently spoke out about the loss. She tells New England Cable News, “Nonno is a loss to the world. He was such a light in everybody’s life. He could illuminate a room when he walked in. We’re all heartbroken.”
When asked if Margaret had spoken to Teresa, she said, “Yes immediately we were all in contact. Melissa [Gorga] had texted me the morning he passed away. And I was in touch with Teresa the day before he had passed away. She knows as we all were heartbroken.” Margaret continues, “It’s just the most devastating – and especially during this time when you know, you can’t even have a proper funeral and we can’t be holding her and hugging her so of course, we have all, you know, reached out.”

It’s hard to imagine how much the family is going through right now, Teresa especially. Fans will remember how heartbroken she was at her mother’s passing. Teresa blamed husband Joe for the jail sentence she received, which subsequently lost her precious time with her mother in her final years. Once her mother passed, Teresa took Nonno in and even had it out with her brother Joe Gorga about how much time he was spending with him. It’s clear to see just how much Teresa has suffered through loss and Nonno’s passing will be no exception.
Teresa shared these touching words on Instagram, “This is the first night in my life I’ve gone to bed without knowing my papa would be there for me in the morning. My heart has broken into a million pieces but I know you’re finding mommy right now….I love you both so much.”
We are sending all the love and condolences out to the Giudices, Gorgas and everyone who loved Nonno and is feeling his loss today.
