Secrets and lies seem to be the theme of this season of Love After Lockup. First, Shawn lied to Destinie about his age and number of kids. Apparently, Destinie felt the need to up the ante by revealing she plans on sleeping with women behind his back. Sounds like a solid relationship. There is so much at stake if things go wrong in this relationship. They need to make it work until after her court date, so he doesn’t lose the money.
On last week’s episode of Love After Lockup, Jessica got a taste of how awful life in Compton will be. People are threatening Maurice on the streets, and she doesn’t fit in. This is where her life is at, and there’s nothing she can do about it. He is paroled to California, so their new life in Vegas is on hold for the time being. However, she and Maurice may be on the verge of an awful mistake; violation of his parole.
Jessica & Maurice
Jessica and Maurice are both beyond frustrated they can’t return home. Neither of them see Compton as their future. There’s nothing they can do about it though. This is their new reality.
This union hasn’t exactly gone as Jessica planned. Feelings of isolation are starting to creep on her, and Maurice is surrounded by past temptations. If he screws up even just one time, it’s back to prison for him. A third strike would eliminate any future they might be planning together.
I understand everyone’s frustration in this scenario though. He served all that time in prison only to still feel like a prisoner in the “free” world. Maurice starts talking crazy about wanting to skip town and violate his parole. Being together is obviously the end game, but he isn’t thinking clearly about is future.

Neither of them are thinking clearly right now. Jessica at least is a little scared of the consequences. It’s not worth it. Who says “f**k parole” on a TV show? I can’t wait until his PO sees that. Knowingly violating is the most foolish thing these two could do. He says she’s either with him or against him, but turning the car around is just common sense.
John & Kristianna
It’s been an insane whirlwind day for John, and things are about to get even weirder. He’s meeting his new mother-in-law for the first time. It’s fair to say that she seems less than enthused about her daughter’s spontaneous nuptials.
John doesn’t know much about her mother, but he’s eager to gain her approval and affection. Things begin to sour at lunch when the topic of the wedding comes up. Kristianna’s mom is disappointed that she didn’t get to walk her down the aisle in a church. A quickie wedding right after prison is honestly not the best way to impress your new family.

Kristianna’s mother can’t help but laugh after he runs down his past marriages. He actually ran off with his wife’s cousin and married her in the past. DUDE WHAT? He is a whole ass mess. Usually, it’s the inmate with the major issues on this, but John is bananas.
John tries to explain that he and Kristianna share a unique connection because he has his own past with prison. That’s not really a shining light to boost her mother’s hopes. She’s scared for her daughter’s future. The new marriage to John isn’t instilling any faith in her.
Shavel & Quaylon
Their wild night together was a success, and Quaylon lasted longer than Shavel expected. Given his time in prison, that’s a little shocking to hear. I guess showing him what being with a real woman was like had more of an impact than expected.
With the first night out of the way, Quaylon is finally going to spend time with Shavel’s daughter. This man has spent his entire adult life in prison, so there’s no telling how he will adapt to the father role. He could very easily decide it’s not for him and dip out. He swears he’s ready for the responsibility though.

Quaylon may be in a good place with Shavel’s daughter, but that doesn’t mean it’ll be a walk in the park with her mom. She asks if marriage is coming, but he doesn’t give a straight answer. He hints at the fact things may change now that the relationship is on the outside.
Shavel’s mother is willing to at least give him a chance and try. That’s more than a lot of these people’s parents do on this show. Most of the time, they want no part of the relationship and are not supportive at all.
Shawn & Destinie
As of now, things are going well between Shawn & Destinie. She’s excited to finally get to move in with him. However, he has no idea about the secrets she’s keeping from him. She was sexually active with women in prison and plans to keep doing it behind his back. I love that she’s laying such a great foundation for her relationship.
Destinie is in the worst possible place at this stage in her life. Las Vegas is called Sin City for a reason. For Shawn, there’s a lot on the line if she can’t stay on the straight and narrow. There’s a big $50,000 dark cloud hanging over the two of them right now.
She wants to party, but he wants her to lay low a bit. She deserves to have her freedom and enjoy herself, but he has so much at stake. If she makes one big mistake, there goes his money. You can’t really blame him for being nervous about her being in a partying state of mind.

Destinie is determined to go out, and Shawn would rather have his friends over for dinner. Destinie says they better be fun because she wants to party. There’s a lot of the world she wants to explore. Watch these people be paint dry boring, and Destinie loses her s**t.
At first meet, Shawn’s friends find Destinie to be a nice girl. Time will tell if that changes or not. She’s ready to party and convinces his friends to go out. Shawn is so nervous that she’s going to do something to jeopardize the money he has at stake.
I’m not convinced Las Vegas is the best place for Destinie to be fresh out of prison. Why are most of these cast members living in the most tempting city in the country? It’s asking for trouble.
Shawn’s friends ask if she has been with women in prison, but she denies it. Starting out this new relationship on a lie is asking for it to end in a burning failure. She says she’s “trysexual” and willing to do whatever turns her on. Well damn.
His friends think Destinie is just in it for money and a good time. It’s looking that way. There’s a major chance she’s going to leave him broke by not showing up to court. He has a right to be concerned.
Tyrice & Chanda
Tyrice and his big blue suit are still waiting for Chanda to emerge into the world of the free. While waiting, he gets a call from Chanda who is in an entirely different location. He lost a lot of time with her as a result of this miscommunication. Oh no. He gets less time with her “fat ass”. Break out the tiny violins.
I was expecting a little more out of her after the hype Tyrice created. She’s not really sure what to make of him and his loud ass suit. Same girl. Same.
Major props to Chanda for changing out of her prison outfit in the bus station bathroom. Very ballsy. She hopes things are going to remain good between them now that she’s on the outside. I think she’s looking for love, and he’s just looking for a piece of ass.
Chanda implies in her interview that there was more than one person out there supporting her. Woah, is Tyrice not the only man in her life? Perhaps his kids were on to something about her using him as a sugar daddy.

Tyrice is so sad that he won’t be able to have sex with Chanda the first time they’re together. You waited a long time already, so this wait won’t be the end of the world. Chanda believes Tyrice has a good heart, so maybe these two can work out in the long run.
Chanda’s childhood sounds pretty awful. Between her father’s meth lab and her mother’s death by drinking, no wonder she ended up where she did. There were no positive examples or role models in her life to keep her on the straight and narrow.
While in prison, Chanda was talking to eight or nine other men. She was using them, and they’re still in communication. When Tyrice (or his kids) learn about this, it’s going to be major drama. She just proved she has the nerve to use people. so who says she isn’t doing that to Tyrice?
