Andy Cohen Says They’ll Take Their “Sweet Time” Before Making Casting Decisions About Real Housewives Of Orange County

Season 15 of Real Housewives of Orange County was weird, and pretty boring. Of course, lightning rod Kelly Dodd was making dangerous comments about coronavirus repeatedly.

Kelly apologized profusely, no doubt hoping to save her RHOC job. She also managed to mock the Black Lives Matter movement by sporting a “Drunk Wives Matter” hat.

Housewives Addicted posted a photo of Kelly in the hat to their Twitter account.  Kelly certainly wasn’t adding members to her fan club with these disgusting behaviors. She also announced that she refuses to film with RHOC co-star Braunwyn-Windham Burke. Kelly accused Braunwyn of faking being an alcoholic for a storyline. And there was no denying that Andy Cohen was irritated with Kelly at the reunion.

In January 2021, Kelly tweeted, “No I am not fired !!! Contacts haven’t come out yet !” I’m sure she meant contracts. Then in February of 2021, Kelly was back on Twitter to talk about her status on RHOC. “It’s actually kind of funny…I’ve heard these rumors every year for the last five years. Looking forward to my sixth season #RHOC 16!” I’m all for positivity, but Kelly’s excitement was a bit premature. Bravo announced that no casting decisions have been made for Season 16. So, what is going on with this franchise?

In what may be an ominous sign for the current cast, Andy responded to a tweet from writer Evan Ross Katz. Evan tweeted, “It’s time to cancel RHOC.” Andy replied, “I think you mean reBOOT.”

But now it sounds like Orange County is taking a breather. Andy recently told E! News, “I think that show’s really important to a lot of people and it’s the mothership of all the Housewives and so we just want to take our sweet time.” RHOC was filming at this time last year, so it is puzzling that no casting decisions have been finalized.

“You know there used to be times between seasons where we’d say, ‘Let’s just let the Housewives live their lives and we’ll call on them in a bit,'” Andy explained. “And I think we’re in that period in Orange County. I think it will be good for them to live their lives and then we’ll pick it back up when we need to.”

That sounds like the current cast, which is comprised of Kelly, Braunwyn, Gina Kirschenheiter, Emily Simpson, Shannon Beador, and Elizabeth Lyn Vargas, might not want to count on that Bravo paycheck. “We’ve got a lot of Housewives shows going in various stages of production, so the good news is there’s no, we don’t have to rush it to air,” Andy added.

The newest franchise, Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, has already been renewed for Season 2. It has the buzz that Orange County had in its earlier seasons. Does RHOC need a completely new cast? Is the franchise still wanted, or needed, at all? Only time will tell.

TELL US- DO YOU THINK THAT BRAVO WILL FIRE THE ENTIRE CAST? IS RHOC DUNZO? DO YOU WANT TO SEE RHOC RETURN?
