This season of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is turning out to be a master class in friendship. Thanks to Erika Jayne and her never ending legal woes, her cast of friends have all had to figure out just how much they are willing to stick by her. In fairness, at the time of filming, many of Erika’s actions and accusations against her weren’t even out. So it’s understandable that friends like Kyle Richards and Lisa Rinna are backing up Erika. It’s actually the first time I’ve really seen them be loyal friends. But it’s also understandable that Dorit Kemsley, Garcelle Beauvais and most vocally, Sutton Stracke, have questions. And while Dorit and Garcelle still seem to be on the fence, Detective Sutton isn’t buying what Erika is selling.
Now Erika has another friend and defender in former castmate Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave. Which isn’t surprising since Teddi voiced her opinion at the latest dinner party she was invited to during a recent episode. Teddi basically told everyone that it’s none of their business. One could argue that it’s also none of Teddi’s business to throw in her opinion since she’s not even on the show anymore but I digress. Teddi has now taken her opinions one step further and has some choice words about Sutton.
Teddi recently spoke with Us Weekly and said of Erika, “I can’t imagine how challenging this has been for her. I’m proud that she’s been able to be so open. I think Erika’s excellent at being a really good friend to other people and I think it’s hard for her to let people in.
She continued, “I think that even though people may want more and every single crumb of detail, this is more than she ever has shared before and I think that goes to show how much she’s probably really been struggling.” I mean, that’s true. This is more than what we have ever gotten from Erika. But really, does she have any choice at this point? And getting Erika to reveal parts of her life in shambles hardly feels authentic at this point. It just seems self-serving.

Teddi goes on to talk about Sutton. She said, “I do think it’s a little bit hypocritical to never ask somebody questions about their personal life to then all of a sudden want all of the questions answered. Like nobody was grilling her about all of these personal details before, they were just letting it be. Nobody knew who Sutton was before Real Housewives, nobody even knew who I was either, but if you’re really concerned about your reputation, if you want to uphold, like, an amazing reputation and all of the charities you’re in and all the things, you don’t go on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. … so that argument is a little flawed for me.”
What is this fascination with these women knowing who each other are in their social circles? It’s possible that Sutton, who is super rich, just runs in different circles as these women. I’m also not really sure how this makes Sutton a hypocrite. Because she decided to ask a fellow cast member questions about the information she is openly sharing on camera?
I think the reality is that Teddi doesn’t really know what she’s talking about, as usual. Especially when she has no skin in the game, nor does she have a reputation of her own. Well, unless you count All In, which I don’t. I think at this point, Teddi is better off just not getting involved. In the epic words of Garcelle, “Why does she get to have an opinion?”
