Real Housewives are not the pinnacle of morality by a longshot. It’d be a joke to tune into any city and expect to see the most upstanding people doing nothing but bettering society. No, we watch shows like Real Housewives of Potomac to be entertained by chaos. Being a fan of these women often comes with having to deal with them making bad decisions. However, sometimes, some of our Real Housewives stars say and do some truly bad things that make us all pause and say, “Huh?” Unfortunately, the latest example comes from Gizelle Bryant.
Gizelle is an RHOP OG who we know for her shady behavior. She is always stirring the pot in questionable ways or throwing low blows at her co-stars. This time, she has become the epitome of unreasonably shady x100 with the latest comments she made on her podcast. Gizelle and Robyn Dixon recently posted an episode of Reasonably Shady talking about the Jussie Smollett hate crime hoax. According to Page Six, the two were discussing a documentary about the topic when Gizelle, out of left field, decided it’d be a good day to use an offensive slur.
To recap, Jussie Smollett got in some legal trouble after it was revealed that he paid two guys to stage an attack to look like a hate crime. It even involved the pair using racial and gay slurs in the fake attack. See how easy it was for me to explain that without being offensive? Gizelle apparently doesn’t have the same gifts when she tried to explain the situation on her pod. “So they were supposed to put a noose around his neck, they were supposed to call him ‘f—got’ or something … gay empire boy or something,” she said. Yes, she said the “F” word with her chest. Have we learned nothing by the year 2023?
Even Gizelle’s co-star Robyn was shook by Gizelle’s word choice. Rather than calling out her friend, Robyn gave an apathetic sigh. Maybe it’s returning the favor of Gizelle conveniently forgetting about the Juan Dixon of it all last RHOP season. But I’m not letting Robyn get away that easily. Anyway, after Robyn’s half-hearted response, Gizelle doubled down on her statement. “They were supposed to scream that,” Gizelle said. “These were the words that Jussie gave.” Gizzy, just apologize and quit before you dig yourself too deep into this hole. The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip fandom is still condemning your Karen-like behavior about people speaking Spanish in your vicinity. This isn’t helping your image at all.
The RHOP fans came out in droves to condemn Gizelle for saying the word. “What a disgusting woman,” one fan tweeted. A few people tried to defend Gizzy for just using the word as it pertains to the story, but I think everyone would have got the message loud and clear with an abbreviation. Gizelle has yet to comment on the backlash from the podcast. I hope Candiace Dillard Bassett is saving all of these receipts to burn Gizzy to the ground next season on RHOP.
