Real Housewives Who Are the Most Clueless About Their Own Privilege

Over the multiple Real Housewives franchises, there has been more than one that has come across as completely tone-deaf. Some of the Bravo women believe they are the next coming of Christ and feel as if they can walk on water. These Housewives often can’t read the room as they try to explain why their lives have been so complicated and take almost everything their co-stars say to heart. At times, it is hard for fans to relate to these privileged Real Housewives since they seem so out of touch with reality, but they do make for good TV.

Monica Garcia lost her cool with the Vida Tequila while in the sprinter fan after the newbie had dug her hand in a tampon box looking for the lost diamond ring. Lisa Barlow‘s comments about poverty and living an ostentatious life proved to many viewers that she is ignorant of most American struggles.

Even though Monica’s own issues stem from her current living situation, Lisa still missed the point entirely. After being called out for being annoying, Lisa clapped back. “When you can afford to buy a $58,000 ring, you’ll care about it too,” she snapped.

Dana Wilkey

This ‘friend of’ the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills only appeared during Season 2, but Dana Wilkey made sure to make an impact. Unfortunately, it wasn’t a very good one. Viewers found her obnoxious as she often bragged about spending tons of money on stupid things like a lollipop holder.

Her claim to fame, but what we mere mortals would call privilege, was the fact that she spent $25,000 on a pair of sunglasses and never let anyone forget about it. She was given the nickname “Pam” by Kim Richards, which was the equivalent of calling someone a “Karen.” Dana tried to place herself in the Real Housewives history books by telling Brandi Glanville, “If you call me Pam one more time, I’m gonna knock you out. That’s her special privilege.” However, viewers still hated Dana and were not sorry to see her go.

Luann de Lesseps

Before Luann de Lesseps redeemed herself on Welcome to Crappie Lake, viewers met the Countess on the Real Housewives of New York City, where she was a snob and a half. Frankly, Luann came across as a monster with manners. During her last season as a housewife, Luann found herself in a heated battle with co-star Eboni K. Williams. The TV judge bragged about being the most educated housewife on the show. Luann didn’t take too kindly to the boast and kicked Eboni out of her home.

Luann also showed her privilege when she was arrested in Florida for being drunk. The body camera showed her talking back to the arresting officer and throwing quite a tantrum as she asked if they knew who she was. Luann honestly might be one of the worst offenders of them all.

Mary Cosby

The apparent villain of the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City does not have a well-developed sense of self, and this could stem from the idea that she is somehow royalty because she is the First Lady of her cult church. Once she stepped into her grandmother’s role, she seemed to stop growing, especially interpersonally, because she was treated as a god who was perfect as she was. As Bravo viewers have noticed, Mary Cosby has a hard time showing any empathy for others and often acts dismissive when another cast member upsets her.

Mary’s privilege often manifests in her acting extremely arrogant, self-centered, and disregarding the feelings of those around her. Her extreme need for power comes across as manipulative, with her lack of conscience shining through. Mary, who is rarely ever called out, will quickly turn the tables and apologize for nothing she has done.

A great example of her privilege is when she was in Palm Springs. The preacher refused to partake in the meal activities and ordered the production crew to drive her to McDonald’s. Mary has herself on her own pedestal, and she needs to be knocked off before her ego runneth over.
