The tragic death of Olivia Flowers’ brother Conner put all other Southern Charm drama on hold. That includes Austen Kroll’s hookup with Olivia’s best friend, Taylor Ann Green. Needless to say, Olivia didn’t want to deal with that betrayal as she was mourning the loss of her brother.
But once she did step back into the fray, it was an emotional reunion with Austen. The Pillows and Beer podcast co-host lost his own sister at the age of seven, and Olivia’s situation was visibly triggering. Somehow, the tragedy made Austen feel some kind of way about ending things with Olivia as he did. Talk about overcompensating.
Austen recalls his “rom-com movie moment” with Olivia
On the recent episode of Southern Charm, Austen revealed some tender moments he and Olivia had in the spirit of friendship and shared grief.
Andy Cohen invited Austen on to a recent episode of Watch What Happens Live to discuss how he showed up for Olivia when she needed the support. It came down to a reunion of sorts, after Austen was unable to reach his ex-flame following the death of her brother.
“It was kind of like a moment that I’ll never forget,” Austen revealed. He ran “out the door” to meet her.
“I ran down to see her, and we just had this rom-com movie moment of just like meeting in the driveway and collapsing into each other and it was just a moment you can’t really describe,” he explained.
“It was very tough for me because I felt like … I should be the one who’s there for her, but I’ve obviously chosen not to be that person,” Austen said of his conflicting feelings. “And then this tragedy kind of happens and I’m known to be an over-thinker.”
Indeed, during the Southern Charm episode, Austen admitted to being conflicted about how to support Olivia, in light of their break up.
He said, “I was like, ‘This is not that time to be the over-thinker that you are,’ so I [told myself], ‘Just shut up and do what you should do and go and see her, and just hug her.'”
