For as long as time has been, there have been best friends. Lucy and Ethel. Laverne and Shirley. Tom Sandoval and Tom Schwartz. For ten seasons, Vanderpump Rules fans watched their hijinks play out on Bravo. And for the most part, it didn’t seem like anything could pull these two apart. Schwartz was happy to play the doofy sidekick to Sandy’s over-the-top ideas. But somewhere along the lines their friendship went tits up on Pump Rules.
Why are the Vanderpump Rules Toms having friendship issues?
Scandoval rocked the Bravosphere, and Sandy’s affair with Rachel Leviss triggered VPR fans. However, there was another party involved that was also deeply hurt by the betrayal: Schwartz. Fans will recall he kissed the model as an unknowing beard to the affair. While on the Off The Vine podcast, Schwartz shared an update on where the friendship stands today. He noted, “Things between me and Tom right now are peaceful. Peaceful.”
But he wasn’t denying that there was tension. Schwartz noted, “We just had this business that we put all of our life savings into, and it just kind of was going up in flames. And we were on this sinking ship together, and kept—It’s not fun. Tried everything to put the fires out, but that put a lot of strain on our friendship.”
Will they work it out?
Tom was open and honest when it came to the topic of Sandoval. The single, 42-year-old bar owner added, “We took a long break from each other.” This could be why viewers have seen him pop up on The Valley solo. Schwartz revealed, “And I don’t see him as much anymore, but the love is still there. He’s my brother. We’re stuck with each other. We’ve been friends for 15 years. And it’s like, yeah, we took a much-needed long break.” Only time will tell if the two can reconnect, but Tom did give a glimpse of hope, sharing he still “loved” Sandy.
