Scheana Shay is certainly unburdening herself. The Vanderpump Rules alum’s book, My Good Side, is ripe with gossip. As well as behind the scenes tea from the hit Bravo reality TV show. Despite being fired with the rest of the veteran cast after Season 11, the Good As Gold singer still has a lot to say.
It’s not just salacious revelations that her husband, Brock Davies, cheated on her while she was pregnant with their daughter, Summer Moon, but the sharing of shocking news about VPR pay. And who in the cast was favored over others within the network pay scheme.
Scheana Shay was paid less for Pump Rules seasons 8 and 10
According to an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, Scheana was not considered a full-time cast member for Seasons 8 and 10. James Kennedy was in the same boat with her for Season 8. Kristen Doute got the treatment for Season 7.
The Good Side author explained, “They said, ‘The audience is never going to know. You’re still going to be in every episode, you’re still going to be in opening credits. You’re still a main character, you’re not anyone’s ‘friend’ of.’”
Scheana added, “It was a way to save some money but still have us perform.”
The Scheananigans podcast host admitted that despite the pay cut, she still gave her best output. “People-pleasing Scheana” “bridged the new people with the OG cast” in Season 8. She and Brock, who were married on camera for Season 10, “gave them a wedding.”
“My story from watching the show every episode, you would never know that I wasn’t being paid the same,” Scheana explained. “It was the same expectations, less pay.”
However, her exposure on the episode filmed after Tom Sandoval’s affair surfaced translated into “more than every other cast member made in that episode.”
In “hindsight,” Scheana is “grateful” as the move “forced” her to put more focus on her YouTube channel and podcast. She explained, “I feel like if I had stayed on my same salary, I might not have tried to think outside of the box as much as I did.”
