Teresa Giudice will always remain the face of The Real Housewives of New Jersey for many. She raised her family of four daughters on screen, with ex-husband, Joe Giudice, and somehow, public interest in their lives continues. Even though Joe hasn’t set foot in the United States since his deportation in 2019.
RHONJ cameras followed Teresa when she visited Joe in his home town in Italy. He wanted to reconcile, but the reality TV star was ready to move on. Perhaps some question remains as to whether it was Joe’s deportation that tore them apart, or would Teresa have chosen divorce regardless. Ultimately, she ended up marrying Luis Ruelas in 2022.
Teresa Guidice was done with Joe either way…
“Joe was my second boyfriend and I wanted to get out of the house,” Teresa shared on the September 24 episode of The Viall Files. Host Nick Viall then asked if the marriage would have “ended” regardless of Joe’s deportation back to Italy. She confirmed that divorce was inevitable.
“’Cause you know what, you change as you get older,” Teresa explained. “And then, so maybe what you accepted when I was 27, I wouldn’t accept that when I was 37. So you change and I was very involved with my kids. I was all about my kids. I did everything. Joe didn’t do anything.”
The RHONJ veteran described herself as the “kind of mom” that “did everything” within the marriage. But she praised Joe as a “good husband” and “good dad.”
The former couple’s eldest daughter, Gia Giudice, posed a scenario to her father during his interview on her podcast, Casual Chaos. She asked if there was any chance her parents would “consider getting back together” if Teresa and Luis “ever broke up.”
“Well, listen, I’ll always be your mom’s friend, no matter what,” Joe replied. “You know what I mean? So it doesn’t matter. I mean, I’ll always be the same with her no matter what.”
He continued, “I mean, maybe if we’re still alive when we’re 90, I don’t know, we’ll see,” he added. “I mean, in life, you never know, but right now, I’m happy.”
