It’s been over three years since Katie Maloney filed for divorce. A good portion of her decade-long relationship with Tom Schwartz was shared on Vanderpump Rules. And that included the former couple navigating their relationship post-breakup.
Aside from several stinging public statements, it seems that the duo managed to maintain a friendship. Kate and Tom do have to communicate in regards to their dogs, Gordo and Butter, who now spend most of the time with the former bar owner. But where does their communication stand beyond sharing custody of their pets? And does Katie’s ongoing relationship with rocker Nick Martin affect Tom?
Are Tom Schwartz and Katie Maloney in a good place?
Tom gave an update on Katie during a recent appearance on the Untraditionally Lala podcast. He told his former VPR co-star Lala Kent that he and his ex-wife “are great.”
“I don’t see her that much, but she’s so sweet,” Tom said. “She’s so freaking sweet to me, always, and kind. [She] sends me funny texts sometimes. But, also, I’m respectful of our boundaries.”
The parameters of their communication are important to Katie, who just celebrated her one-year relationship with the Sleeping with Sirens guitarist. Tom met Katie’s new beau back in February and raved about the man. Meanwhile, Nick is smitten with Katie. As evidenced by his Instagram posts.
“And I love her boyfriend,” Tom said during the podcast interview. “He’s a literal rockstar, and he’s just cool as shit. And they seem so happy and in love. I don’t know the intricacies of their relationship, but it makes me so happy to see [Katie] happy. It really does, and I have so much love for her.”
While Tom won’t be calling Katie bubba anytime soon, it’s nice to know that there is no animosity. The sandwich shop owner certainly had her share of grievances from the time she was together with her ex. There were rumors of his infidelity, among other frustrations. The post-bubba era is a serene one.
