Wasn’t it great to have Southern Charm back last week? It is one of my favorite shows and the seasons never seem to last long enough. It will certainly be a different show without Thomas Ravenel, but it looks like we will be hearing a lot about him throughout the season. For better or worse-probably worse! My favorite part of the premiere show was definitely the dinner party at Patricia Altschul’s house, which was as wonderfully strange as any of her gatherings.
Austen Kroll was one of Patricia’s dinner invitees and for the most part was a low-key party guest. Low-key would not be the words to describe an embarrassing video that surfaced last summer of Austen and his new girlfriend Madison LeCroy, however. In the video clip, Madison appeared to catch Austen in a threesome while stopping by his house early in the morning. Understandably, an argument ensued in the video, which was apparently taped by one of Austen’s “houseguests.” And now Austen is telling his side of the story.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Austen explained what happened in the video. He says, “So, I guess what I can say is that was very early on [in our relationship].” And then he further clarifies, “[That was] Madison and I trying to figure out what we were. We both hadn’t done the, you know, you’re my girlfriend and you’re my boyfriend talk, right?”
If the two had not yet had such a talk, maybe they should have since Madison appears to be furious in the video. And she seemed to be figuring out their relationship very quickly. Madison can be heard asking one of the unseen ladies in the video if she “f***ed him last night,” and the mystery woman answered, “no.” And observant Madison then asked, “So then why are your panties lying by the bed?” Which would seem to be a reasonable inquiry!
Ask, and ye shall receive an answer, Madison. Austen shouts at her, “Because they slept in my f***ing bedroom.” And he goes on to say about Madison, “I’m so f***ing embarrassed for you right now.” Right, Austen-Madison stopped by your house to find you in bed with two women, but Madison should be embarrassed? You could grill a steak on that gaslight, Mr. Kroll.

So, how did this all happen? Austen claims that he and Madison were still defining their relationship at the time. He admits, “We definitely were both trying to push it to see how much the other person cared. I’m going to go out tonight and I’m not going to talk to her. See if that bothers her, or vice versa.” Maybe Austen has been watching too many Lifetime movies-he should know that this kind of relationship strategy never works out! Or maybe he was taking dysfunctional relationship cues from Kathryn Dennis and Thomas.
Austen and Madison apparently had a conversation about their relationship, which may have triggered the sordid chain of events. Austen told Entertainment Tonight, “And so we had this talk, right? Because she was talking about the fact that her ex, like, wouldn’t leave her alone. You tell me to leave you alone and I will never-I’m gone. And, we kind of had one of those moments. I was like fine, fine. So, I busied myself and it didn’t turn out so well. Because she showed up the next day and was like, Wait! I want to talk things over.”
And talk it over they did, but I bet Madison wasn’t expecting her discussion with Austen to be refereed by panty-free mediators! And for his part, Austen claims he doesn’t know what happened between him and the women, saying, “I was out of my mind. I had no clue.” Maybe not, but I am sure the clues added up quickly in the morning. Probably accompanied by a pounding headache and hazy memories. Just like Shep Rose.

Somehow, Austen and Madison survived this debacle. The couple is still together. About their current relationship, Austen reveals, “I take these cases day by day, these cases being my relationship. We’ll just see…She’s in a unique situation that I have never been in before with any other girl I have ever dated (Madison is a single mother). So like, I kind of follow her lead a lot. You know, she’s got a lot going on.” And from what we saw in the video, so do you Austen. So do you.
TELL US- DO YOU THINK AUSTEN REALLY DOESN’T REMEMBER WHAT HAPPENED THAT NIGHT? WAS AUSTEN TRYING TO GASLIGHT MADISON?
