Welcome back! Let’s dive right into The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 13, Episode 8 recap. This week’s episode, titled “Esopha-Gate” deals with the fallout from Kyle Richards’ wacky weed dinner. Sutton celebrated the fourth anniversary of opening her store. And Kyle talked with her therapist and life coach about her recent losses. Here’s everything that you need to know about RHOBH Season 13, Episode 8!
Sutton is throwing a party
Sutton is celebrating the fourth anniversary of her store. She told the party planner not to have food because the guests were using “Olympic” or “Octivia.” Avi, her long-suffering assistant, told her that the medication was Ozempic.
Sutton is particularly proud because she built this store, and her businesses, herself. When a producer asked if she used her “spousal support” to bankroll the store, Sutton admitted that did. As far as I am concerned, that is still Sutton’s money.
Crystal and Sutton chatted, and Sutton was upset about the comments that Kyle and Dorit made about her drinking. Sutton said, “The most ludicrous, dangerous accusation that they’re trying to put out there and I’m stomping it out.” Sutton is concerned that these comments could negatively affect her custody of her son and her business. I’m sure that being on a reality TV show won’t spread any misinformation. It’s in the vault.
Kyle shares her pain
Jamie, Kyle’s therapist and life coach, arrived. Kyle is anxious by nature, but the situation with her sisters over the past year has been upsetting her. Kathy and Kyle aren’t speaking again.
They didn’t speak when Kyle’s husband, Mauricio, opened up The Agency. And again when she created the show, American Woman. In fact, Kathy sent a legal letter regarding the television show, stating that Kyle could not use Kathy, or her family, in the show.
Kyle also lost her best friend, Lorene, to suicide. They had been best friends since second grade. Kyle never saw this coming and struggles with her unanswered questions. Usually, Kyle’s marriage made her feel grounded and safe. But now she doesn’t feel that way.
And it showed earlier in this episode of RHOBH. Kyle and Mauricio kissed, and when he went to kiss her again, she said, “Well don’t be kissing me like that.” Mauricio responded, “I can kiss you however I want.” It was awkward and chilly and weird. Maybe Kyle isn’t that into him anymore. It was so uncomfortable to watch.
Erika is headed to Vegas, baby!
Erika FaceTimed her mom to tell her that she landed her own Las Vegas residency. Erika signed a contract for 20 shows between September and December. Now, she finally feels hopeful about the future. And this time, Erika invited her mother, Renee, to opening night.
The relationship between Erika and her mother has been explored, albeit gently, throughout this season so far. It’ll be interesting to see if there’s more of that in Erika’s now-confirmed Vegas spinoff.
Party time!
Sutton is sporting another cat blouse, and I am obsessed. Kyle arrived with her sister, Kim Richards. Kim hasn’t been out much since the pandemic, so she was nervous. But Kyle made her point clear. She has one sister right now, so Sutton can put that in a joint and smoke it.
Sutton didn’t miss Kyle’s message. But it was awkward when Kim told a small group that she likes to color on her walls. If it makes Kim happy, that is all that matters. Plus, the artwork’s actually pretty great.
Dorit is in trouble
Thanks to Crystal, Sutton knew all about what Dorit and Kyle had been saying about her drinking. Sutton slammed Dorit for talking behind her back. Of course, Dorit was furious that Crystal shared this information with Sutton. But Dorit can’t get out of it. During that conversation with Kyle and Crystal, Dorit said that she wouldn’t be shocked if Sutton put vodka in her coffee. That was low.
Then Dorit asked Crystal what she told the Georgia peach. Dorit was hung up on whether Crystal also mentioned that Kyle made comments. I guess it is more comfortable under a bus if you have company.
Kyle and Sutton try to work it out
Sutton sarcastically told Kyle that she was getting her first cocktail of the day. Of course, Sutton wanted permission from “mom.” Kyle explained that she was only referring to that strange night at Sutton’s house. She doesn’t believe that Sutton has a drinking problem.
Surprisingly, both Sutton and Kyle apologized to each other. Sutton admitted that she “went jugular” at the weed dinner. Sutton’s comment about Kyle being in denial hurt her. They want to rebuild their friendship, but they both need time to heal.
Is there a doctor at the party?
Annemarie was confused about Sutton’s comments about her medical issues. Sutton confirmed that she does have neuropathy, and she takes Gabapentin. But, contrary to what Sutton said, she can’t drink while on that medicine. Sutton told Annemarie that her doctor gave her the okay to enjoy her cocktails.
And while Sutton has a “narrowing of the esophagus” she isn’t getting treatment for it. Annemarie, a nurse anesthetist, said Sutton’s comments don’t make sense. A narrowed esophagus wouldn’t cause Sutton to not eat. And why isn’t she getting treatment?
Sutton wasn’t vibing with Annemarie’s energy. Annemarie is a newbie, and she is coming on too strong. In fact, Sutton quipped, “Why am I having a doctor’s appointment right now?” Hilarious.
In the end, all the ladies were proud of Sutton and her achievements. And it was great to see the ladies being supportive for once and not shady.
